The Oakland Raiders are bringing in quarterback Jim Sorgi for a tryout. Sorgi's agent, Matt Brei, said Sorgi will work out for Oakland on Tuesday. The Raiders are looking for a veteran backup quarterback to play behind starter Carson Palmer. They are also bringing in Matt Leinart this week. Sorgi spent six years in Indianapolis as Peyton Manning's backup. He spent the 2010 season with the New York Giants on injured reserve with a right shoulder injury and did not play last season. The only other quarterbacks on the roster currently are Terrelle Pryor and Rhett Bomar.

Oakland Raiders Fire Director of College Scouting

According to the NFL Network, and as is posted on the NFL.com website, the Oakland Raiders have fired John Kingdon.  This is yet another sign that Reggie McKenzie wants his own people in every key area of the organization.  Longevity (Kindon had put in 33 years of service) and how well you may have done [...]

Draft Grades: New York Giants

With so few holes, I expected the New York Giants to simply target the best available player – a strategy which Jerry Reese has used frequently in the past – but he strayed from his typical approach and it may come back to haunt him down the road. David Wilson was a reach, and there’s really no way to sugar coat that. The fact that Reese would reach for Wilson raises a serious...

Osi Umenyiora fires back at New York Giants GM Jerry Reece.

NEW YORK -Ding. Ding. Round three of the annual Osi Umenyiora vs. Jerry Reece title bout is underway. As reported, during the NFL draft festivities, Reece, the Giants GM proclaimed his love for Osi. He went as far as to state that the team wants him to “retire” as a Giant. He also said that the team had offered him two contract extensions that Osi turned down. Please click...

Draft Grades: Oakland Raiders

It’s tough to grade a team with no draft picks, so to make it simple I’ll focus solely on how the Oakland Raiders used the picks they had and ignore the questionable trades that got them here. With their first selection in the 3rd round the Raiders reached to fill a need. Tony Bergstrom will be given an opportunity to compete for a starting job, but he offers only a limited upgrade...

Osi Umenyiora comments don’t bother Jerry Reese

In an interview with ESPN Radio in New York via the New York Daily News, Giants general manager made it clear that he doesn’t take Osi Umenyiora’s critisicm of him personnel.  He dismissed Osi’s comments by saying that it’s just  “offseason chatter”. “I don’t carry grudges,” Reese insisted. “That’s the offseason. That’s part of the job. In the offseason...

Osi Umenyiora says Giants making him look like a ‘greedy pig’ during negotiations

The situation between Osi Umenyiora and the Giants seems to get uglier by the day. With the depth the Giants have along their Super Bowl-winning front seven, they aren’t in a position where they have to overpay for a player like Umenyiora. In fact, they don’t necessarily have to even pay full value for someone like him. That has created a lot of tension between Osi and the front...

Giants Steal Rueben Randle

The New York Giants snatched wide receiver Rueben Randle from the board with the No. 63 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Fantasy Spin: This will go down as being one of the biggest steals of the Draft, and some experts even believe that Randle is the most physically-gifted receiver in the class. He could develop into a No. 1 fantasy receiver, but not in New York with studs Hakeem Nicks...

Osi Umenyiora claims Jerry Reese is making him look like a “greedy pig”

Now that we’re about three months into another NFL offseason, it looks like another war between New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora and general manager Jerry Reese is brewing in the swamps of New Jersey. Yesterday, during the Giants’ post-draft press conference, Reese claimed that he offered Umenyiora a contract extension last year as well as this offseason and that...

Leinart reunites with Palmer, Knapp in Oakland

Quarterback Matt Leinart signed with the Raiders. A seventh-year veteran, Leinart spent the past two seasons with the Houston Texans before being released in March. In Oakland, he's expected to be Carson Palmer's primary backup - a role he is familiar with. Palmer and Leinart both won the Heisman Trophy at Southern California, with Leinart one of Palmer's backups in...

Steelers already the hottest ticket for 2012 season

Although it seems like just a few weeks ago that Eli Manning and the Giants hoisted another Lombardi trophy at the conclusion of the 2011-12 NFL season, tomorrow marks the first of May.  With another NFL draft weekend behind us--and OTAs & Rookie Minicamps just around the corner--now its time to look ahead to the 2012-13 season.  Our partners at TiqIQ have done the same and...

Giants Sign 9 Undrafted Prospects

The New York’s Giants have signed 9 undrafted free agents just one day after the NFL Draft has ended. Signing undrafted free agents is customary at the conclusion of the draft, but this doesn’t mean the Giants are done searching for talent to improve the team. In recent years, the Giants have had success signing undrafted prospects such as Victor Cruz, Jake Ballard and Henry...

Redskins sign free agent linebacker Jonathan Goff

The Washington Redskins have signed free agent linebacker Jonathan Goff, who played three seasons with the New York Giants before missing last year with a knee injury. Goff was a fifth-round selection by the Giants in 2008. He became a full-time starter in 2010, but he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee shortly before the season opener a year ago and was placed...
