The Raiders had their eighth day of camp today. Here are some notes. My information comes from Raiders beat writers via Twitter and can be found on Twitter as @LeviDamien @ChrisMcClain @CorkOnTheNfl (Steve Corkran) @VicTafur @AsherMatthews @ChrisHansenNFL. I will be compiling all of their information throughout training camp. For all Raiders updates follow the writers above and Me at @sethmurphy4991.
The silver jersey competition I was telling you about yesterday, was won by the defense who are sporting them.
Jacoby Ford is back today, his injury was never disclosed.
Nix and Ross among those unaccounted for
Lots of drops again today
Watson still not at practice
Lamarr Houston Vance Walker and Conner Vernon join those not practicing today. Without Walker Raiders are extremely thin at DT. 5 of 7 were injured
Terrelle Pryor with a beautiful 60 yard pass on the money to Brice Butler. You won’t see Flynn make that pass ever. He’s having a great day good zip and accuracy
Alex Barron getting reps at first team LT. Don’t worry he isn’t taking Veldheer’s job it’s just good to have a plan in case of different injuries.
Jared Veldheer actually being held out for injury to the forearm but the MRI was negative, which is a positive.
After hearing from OC Greg Olsen I would be extremely surprised if Terrelle Pryor didn’t run some pistol this year.
That is all for today folks

BEST OF MAXIM
Undrafted rookie quarterback Matt McGloin has defied expectations his whole life, so it is no surprise that he is pushing for a roster spot during training camp. After a stellar high school career, McGloin was not offered a single college football scholarship so he decided to walk-on to Penn State to prove critics wrong. By the end of his senior year with the Nittany Lions, McGloin...
I spent some time really focusing on the QBs in practice, today. As explained by Vic Tafur, here, the Raiders definitely have Flynn and Pryor 1 and 2 and it shows in camp. The two alternated consistently, today, with Flynn getting a break with the ones, at times, and Pryor coming in. Neither McGloin nor Wilson got many snaps.
Matt Flynn had a decent but unspectacular day and...
Darren McFadden has been hurt in each of his five NFL seasons. That’s why backup running backs are so vital to the Raiders offense.
Rashad Jennings was brought in to fill that role and he certainly looks the part. The 6-foot-1 231-pound veteran has a powerful rushing style that fits a revamped Raiders blocking scheme based on gap creation and control.
Jennings has impressed in...
The Oakland Raiders once had one of the best defenses in the league, but that hasn’t been the case for a while. This offseason, general manager Reggie McKenzie did his best to fix that problem by bringing in some veteran players who can help the Raiders new and improved secondary in more ways than one.
Last year the Raiders were ranked 23rd in interceptions as they only had 11...
The Oakland Raiders signed kicker Sebastian Janikowski to a four-year extension Friday, ensuring the franchise's leading scorer will remain with the team through at least 2017.
Janikowski is coming off the best season of his career. He converted a career-best 91.2 percent (31 of 34) of his field goal attempts in 2012. The only misses came from 51, 61 and 64 yards.
The Oakland Raiders announced via Twitter Friday that they signed K Sebastian Janikowski through 2017. The terms of the deal haven’t been released.

The Oakland Raiders signed kicker Sebastian Janikowski, the longest tenured player on the team by six years, to a 4-year contract extension today, the team announced.
Per CSN’s Scott Bair, the extension pays Janikowski just under $19 million over 4 years with approximately $8 million in guaranteed money in it's first two years.
There is some speculation that the contract...
New Raiders linebacker Kevin Burnett has is entering his ninth year in the league this year but his numbers have never been better than last season when he started every game for the Miami Dolphins and finished with 110 combined tackles.
It was his second time in two years with the Dolphins going over 100 tackles. And yet, the Dolphins cut him in the off-season to save money...
The Raiders are now a week and a half into their 2013 Training Camp, and are less than a week from seeing the field for the first time, facing the Dallas Cowboys this Friday, August 9th.
The media access becomes more restricted after the second preseason game so this is the prime time to attempt to glean what the 2013 team will become.
Here are some notes, thoughts and tidbits...
