NFL Trade Rumors:
Jerry McDonald of the Contra Costa Times writes that the Raiders could look to shop players Darrius Heyward-Bey, Denarius Moore, and Jacoby Ford for additional draft picks.
Undrafted rookie Rod Streater has afforded them the ability to trade of their receivers if it means that they would be able to fill other positions of need like cornerback.
The rebuild in Oakland will likely continue during the offseason, so the idea really isn’t all that far-fetched. GM Reggie McKenzie is doing his best to build a more stable foundation for the team, but this has obviously had a negative impact on their ability to win now.
BEST OF MAXIM
Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden is having another injury filled season and every analyst is starting to bring out the bust label again. It started over the 2010 offseason when McFadden had two lackluster seasons in Oakland and McFadden showed them in 2010 he deserves the title of featured back. Then 2011 came in to smack him down again and 2012 has the bust haters coming...
The Raiders franchise has been a mess for over a decade. They need to take a hard look at how things are being run.
As we get closer to the end of the season it's time to start looking ahead to the coaching changes for next year.
Here's a quick look at the teams I think will, or should, be looking for a coaching change when the season ends.
It sounds like the Oakland Raiders will finally give Terrelle Pryor a shot to play. Raiders coach Dennis Allen expects QB Terrelle Pryor to get playing time against the Chiefs. It’s the third straight week the Raiders have claimed they’re going to take a look at their No. 3 quarterback, but he’s yet to play a snap. Now entering a game where they may conceivably compete, Pryor...
Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune reports that Raiders Head Coach Dennis Allen will be looking to give playing time to QB Terrelle Pryor and various others on the 53 man roster.
With the playoffs out of reach, the team will look to see what it has in its backups, in Pryor’s case the offense installed a package of plays weeks ago for Pryor to run yet the proper situation...
Rod Streater signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent immediately following the conclusion of the draft.
A product of Temple University, Streater’s odds were long to make the Raiders 53 man roster. However, after a strong preseason, Streater left an impression that earned him a roster spot.
Streater is 6th among NFL rookie wide receivers with 28 receptions and is...
Oakland Raiders safety Tyvon Branch practiced for the first time this week, an encouraging turn for a struggling secondary sorely lacking depth.
The news wasn't as promising for Richard Seymour. The seven-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle has not played since injuring his hamstring on Nov. 4 and did not practice Friday after aggravating the same injury a day earlier.
It was Thursday Night Football and all eyes were on the O.Co Coliseum, but, unfortunately, the Oakland Raiders were not ready for prime time. The Silver&Black once again were defeated by AFC West rival Denver Broncos and saw their record drop to 3 and 11. The loss is the sixth straight for the Raiders, whose 13 points were not enough to [...]
Well Raider Nation, in terms of what’s going on in the AFC West, last week just provided more of the same with one surprise. San Diego somehow managed to beat the Steelers, which should have shocked many. Outside of that, Oakland kept it closer than I thought they would against Denver and the Kansas City Chiefs kept themselves in the [...]
Last week: 32 (+1)
Net points per drive: -0.91 (31st)
DVOA: -31.9% (30th)
Weighted DVOA: -31.7% (30th)
The Raiders’ only remaining home game right now is against the Chiefs and their last chance for a win, as they have to go to Carolina and San Diego and I can’t see them winning either of those games. I have them in the 31st spot because I think they lose to the...
This piece is the first of a few in which I will go through my thoughts on the likely direction of the Oakland Raiders at the conclusion of the season. Future articles will discuss my predictions on the direction of the offense and defense in general and specific players.
Here are my thoughts on the coaching staff. I try to walk through this very logically and sequentially...
Kansas City Chiefs (2-11) at Oakland Raiders (3-10)
I picked the Chiefs as 6.5 point dogs last week in Cleveland because they were in such a good spot, but I made sure not to make it a huge play because I wasn’t sure how they’d respond once they had a week for the Jovan Belcher situation to settle in. In hindsight, I probably should have avoided the game entirely like I did the...
