Twitter can be a dangerous place sometimes, especially for high-profile athletes. Tavon Austin found that out the hard way. The Rams’ rookie wide receiver, who already has over 53,000 followers, got into some hot water with the organization in recent weeks when he gained three new, somewhat high-profile, in their own right, followers, according to Taylor Holliday. Austin, 22, told his tale of social media woe while speaking with high school students at Nike’s “The Opening” camp in Oregon on Monday. He explained that a trio of strippers started following him on Twitter, so he decided to follow them back. But once Rams general manager Les Snead found out, Austin was in deep trouble. “Three strippers followed me, I flowed them back. Next thing I know I’m in the GMs office. Now I’m off twitter,” Austin said during the camp. Snead didn’t take too kindly to the situation and, according to Austin at least, kicked the former West Virginia star off of Twitter. If Austin was banned from tweeting, it wasn’t for very long. He’s been very active on social media over the past few days, and has taken few hiatuses from it over the past few months. Whatever the punishment, it doesn’t seem to have worked. As of Tuesday, Austin was still following at least one self-proclaimed stripper on Twitter. Here’s a look at some of the people Austin’s following, including three Rams teammates. Maybe next time, Snead should take away Facebook, too. That will teach him. Have a question for Luke Hughes?
