PLAYERS: Greg Zuerlein
TEAMS: St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams came home after a brutal loss to the Chicago Bears to face the heavily favored conference rival Seattle Seahawks.  No one in NFL land gave the Rams a chance against the Seahawks after their questionable win against the Green Bay Packers in week three.  The Rams were considered to be the permanent basement dwellers of the NFC West, but as it has been all season, St. Louis was underestimated and left unmentioned in the NFL  media.  They all must have forgot the big leg of Rams Kicker Greg Zuerlein, as he nearly outscored Seattle by himself hitting four field goals from  58, 48, 28, and a Rams record 60 yards giving the Rams a “Leg up” in their 19-13 victory over the Seahawks.… Read more

Rams special teams: Tops of the league?

Leading the hit-parade was rookie Greg “The Leg” Zuerlein who booted two franchise record field goals ending up with the best at 60 yards. The Leg scored four field goals for a total of 12 of the 19 points St. Louis put on the board; the other seven came from a fake field goal also pulled off by the Rams special teams when holder John Hekker fired off a pass to Danny Amendola...

Zuerlein sets Rams record with 60-yard field goal

Rookie kicker Greg Zuerlein has topped the field goal record he set earlier in the Rams game against the Seahawks on Sunday with a 60-yarder in the third quarter. Zuerlein kicked a club-record 58-yarder in the first quarter, and his 60-yarder put St. Louis ahead 16-7. Zuerlein is a sixth-round pick out of Missouri Western, and now is 11 for 11 on field goal tries. The previous...

Zuerlein success no surprise to college coaches

ST. LOUIS (AP) Missouri Western was a must stop for NFL special teams coaches this spring. Everyone wanted a close look at the kicker who made 21 field goals in a row, nine of them from midfield or beyond. The Vikings put Greg Zuerlein high on their shopping list. The Texans, made the trip to St. Joseph, Mo., too. Rams special teams coach John Fassel showed up twice. It's no...

Defense carries Rams to first win

Greg Zuerlein kicked four field goals, including a 58-yarder and a club record 60-yarder, to help the St. Louis Rams to a 19-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Special teams led the way for the Rams (2-2), with a fake field goal turning into a 2-yard touchdown pass from punter Johnny Hekker to Danny Amendola to put St. Louis ahead 10-7 late in the first half. The loss...

Rams rookie kicker Zuerlein should be Special Teams Player of the Week

Forget about Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson. The St. Louis Rams‘ true offensive star thus far is a rookie kicker from a Division II school. Greg Zuerlein made 21 consecutive field goals last fall at Missouri Western, and he’s been a sure thing in the NFL, too. The rookie kicked four field goals, setting a club record with a 58-yarder and then topping it with a 60-yarder, and...

Seattle Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams: Week 4 Recap

As I predicted, the Rams did beat the Seahawks. It was a tough game, but the Rams were able to pull through and win 19-13. It was a close game that couldn't have got much closer. Many of the points scored were from field goals by the rookie kicker Greg Zuerlein. Zuerlein had four field goals including a 60-yard field goal. If you haven't learned how to spell "Zuerlein...

St. Louis Rams get no respect, time to open your eyes

Entering the 2012 season, the St. Louis Rams looked only to start the rebuilding of a team that went 2-14 in 2011.  They started at the top with replacing General Manager Billy Devaney, and replaced him with the Atlanta Falcons Head of Player Personnel Director Les Snead.  Snead immediately looked for a Head Coach and was able to lure long time Tennessee Titan Head Coach Jeff Fisher...

Zuerlein sets record in Rams' win

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Making the jump from Division II to the NFL has been pretty easy for St. Louis Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein. The rookie kicked four field goals, setting a club record with a 58-yarder and then topping it with a 60-yarder, and helped the Rams beat the Seattle Seahawks 19-13 on Sunday. Not only is Zuerlein a perfect 12 for 12 on the year, he also was a perfect decoy...

Seattle Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams: Five Things We Learned

It was another tough win for the Rams, but they were able to pull it off. They are definitely grateful for another win. The Rams beat the Seahawks 19-13 mainly due to the help of kicker Greg Zuerlein. We already learned what a great kicker he is earlier in the season. Below is a list of five things we learned from this game.1. The Rams Can Win At HomeThe Rams have won both of their...

Rams get their kicks in beating Seahawks

ST. LOUIS -- There was no fantastic finish for the Seattle Seahawks this time. Relying on thunder-footed rookie kicker Greg Zuerlein and a defense which kept the Seahawks out of the end zone after the game's first 4 minutes and 15 seconds, the St. Louis Rams matched their win total of 2011 with a 19-13 win Sunday at Edward Jones Dome. Zuerlein, a sixth-round draft pick in...

Top 10 NFL Week 4 Takeaways

One of only two unbeaten QBs 10) The Bills took a big lead on the Patriots, just to show that they could still give up 52 points and get blown out anyway 9) Greg Zuerlein is the Rams' kicker, he connected from 58 and 60 yards, and honestly, it might be time to start taking the air out of the kicking balls 8) You can not stop Dwayne Bowe from providing fantasy goodness in...

St. Louis Rams at Chicago Bears Week 3 Recap

It wasn't a Sunday night or Monday night game, but it was still another embarrassing loss to the Chicago Bears for the St. Louis Rams.I did predict that it was going to be a loss for the Rams, but I thought the Rams would have a better performance then they actually did. The Bears beat the Rams 23-6. The Rams only scored two field goals courtesy of rookie Greg Zuerlein. The Rams...

St. Louis Rams look special in 19-13 victory over Seattle Seahawks

There are three phases to every football game: offense, defense and special teams. Often overlooked in the shuffle of competition is the importance of the latter phase, a phase that sees second- and third-string players who fought for roster spots in training camp take the field. On this particular afternoon, the St. Louis Rams reminded football fans just how important these fringe...
