DETROIT (AP) -- Matthew Stafford threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Smith with 10 seconds left, lifting the Detroit Lions to a 27-23 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Stafford made up for a shaky game by leading an 80-yard, nine-play game-winning possession that included three passes of at least 18 yards. Sam Bradford directed a go-ahead drive that set up Greg Zuerlein's 46-yard field goal and put the Rams ahead 23-20 with 1:55 left. But coach Jeff Fisher's debut ended with a loss because the Rams could not shut down Stafford in the end. Stafford had three interceptions before halftime for the first time in his four seasons. The Rams scored 13 points off Stafford's turnovers, including Cortland Finnegan's 31-yard return for a TD that gave them a 13-7 lead late in the first half.

Jeff Fisher hoped his St. Louis Rams could hold Detroit's powerful offense to field goals. They did a pretty good job of that - until the final quarter. With Leather’s Watch This: Oh Sweet Irony!

Watching Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford poop the bed against the St. Louis Rams yesterday was rather bothersome for me, as I spent a quarter of my auction league cash on his three-pick-throwing ass a week ago. But then I remembered the above commercial for Monday Night Football and the irony tickled me enough to make me forget that he almost cost me my suicide pick, too...

Beware, adjective overload to follow shortly. The St. Louis Rams played one of their most inspired, passionate, hard-nosed games fans have seen in a while in Motown this past Sunday. St. Louis Rams vs. Detroit Lions: Hero and Zero of the Game

As I watched the Detroit Lions defeat the St. Louis Rams 27-23 I was all prepared to declare Cortland Finnegan the hero in a Rams win and Matthew Stafford as the goat having thrown three first half interceptions. All that changed with :10 left in the game. While Finnegan should still be considered a hero, leading St. Louis in tackles, seemingly always around the ball, and an interception...

Detroit Lions Earn A Ugly Win, Start 2012 1-0

Conventional Wisdom says a win is a win, and it sure is a lot better to be 1-0 than 0-1, but should all us Detroit Lions fans feel real good about the 27-23 victory over the St. Louis Rams? Before we go any farther our hearts and prayers go out to Rodger Saffold. We certainly hope it is not as bad as it looked. Rest, heal, and get back on the field brother. On the surface Matthew...
