CHICAGO (AP) -- Major Wright returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown, and the Chicago Bears beat the St. Louis Rams 23-6 on Sunday. The defense came to the rescue against the Rams (1-2), holding them to 160 yards and sacking Sam Bradford six times. That was enough on a day when Jay Cutler struggled, and the Bears (2-1) came away with the win after an ugly loss to Green Bay the previous week. The Bears had just kicked a field goal to extend their lead to 13-6 in the fourth quarter when Wright came up with the big return. Bradford had been hit hard by Israel Idonije and Stephen Paea on the previous play when Tim Jennings deflected a slant intended for Danny Amendola. Wright caught the ball at the 45 and ran untouched to the end zone, making it a 14-point game and finally giving the Bears some breathing room.

Major Wright a major pain for Rams

Bears safety Major Wright’s pick-six against St. Louis capped off a strong overall performance by Chicago’s defense, a group that has been dominant so far through three games.

Rams shopping for a quarterback in 2013?

The first pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, and former NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Year, Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford has found himself in the under-deliver category, particularly after not managing to get his St. Louis Rams into the end zone during four quarters of play last week in Chicago. After a stellar season in 2010, much was expected of Bradford and his career with the St...

Stingy Bears “D” leads way to victory

Major Wright’s 45-yard interception return for touchdown, coupled with six sacks of St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford, provided the storyline in the Chicago Bears 23-6 win over the Rams at sunny, but chilly Soldier Field Sunday afternoon. The Bears improve to 2-1 on the season, while St. Louis dips to 1-2. In an otherwise lackluster affair, the Bears defense kept Bradford and [...]

Chicago Bears D Has the WRIGHT Stuff Against The St. Louis Rams

While the St. Louis Rams week three visit to Soldier Field certainly did not earn their hostile hosts the Chicago Bears any style points, the Monsters of the Midway's dazzling defensive effort ultimately paved the way to a 23-6 victory. Ten days after suffering a humiliating loss to their division rival Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, the Bears managed to bounce back and...

Bears maul Rams QB Bradford in 23-6 win

The Chicago Bears relied on a strong defensive effort, limiting the Rams to just two field goals in a resounding 23-6 victory on Sunday. The front four was once again dominant for Chicago sacking Rams QB Sam Bradford six times and allowing the Rams only 160 net yards in the game. Led by Israel Idonije's 2.5 sacks on the day the front four harassed the third year QB all day...

Chicago loss a flashback to 2011 puny attack

Sam Bradford absorbed six sacks and Steven Jackson rushed for just 29 yards. The St. Louis offense, so potent the first two weeks, found no holes in Week 3. The 23-6 loss at Chicago was an uncomfortable flashback to 2011, when the Rams were at the bottom of the NFL with a 12-point scoring average. The Rams were largely betrayed by a patchwork line minus the projected starter at...

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly St. Louis Rams v Chicago Bears

It wasn’t but a week ago that I went all in and played nice with Sam Bradford, and then he comes out and drops this game on me? Really Sam, I need to continue to call you out week after week? On the other side you have my Super Bowl winners who look like, well they are good enough to beat teams like the Rams. This game wasn’t pretty in any way shape or form, but it got the results...

What the hell happened and other life altering questions

It is not the end of the world. The Rams lost to a potential division winner on the road. Remember, the Bears lost 10 days earlier to their division rival. They simply could not lose to the Rams, in this game, at Soldier Field. Fans should not be devastated by this loss. At the same time, we should not ignore the reasons why they lost. I have not reviewed all of the...

Mistakes doom Rams' fourth-quarter comeback hopes in loss to Bears

For two weeks, Paul Boudreau and Brian Schottenheimer had tag-teamed to work around a hobbled offensive line, giving Sam Bradford plenty of quick-passing opportunities, a few well-timed deep balls, and a creative deployment of the run game. However, they faced a team with a legitimate combination of up-front pressure and backfield coverage in the Chicago Bears, and the combination...

St. Louis Rams vs. Chicago Bears: Hero and Zero of the Game

The Chicago Bears defeated the St. Louis Rams 23-6 today at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Bears (2-1) relied heavily on a strong effort from the defense as they applied constant pressure on Rams' quarterback Sam Bradford all day long. It was a slow-paced game, in part because of the shaky officiating by the replacement referees and both offenses playing sub-par for most of the...

Fantasy Football Week 3 Preview: St. Louis Rams vs. Chicago Bears

St. Louis Rams @ Chicago BearsSt. Louis Rams:  The Rams come off a surprising win against RGIII and the Washington Redskins last week, proving from top to bottom the NFC West needs to be taken a little more seriously now.  Sam Bradford had a good afternoon against a suspect Redskins secondary, going for 300 and 3 much to most everyone’s surprise.  He’ll find things quite a...
