Dallas Cowboy Blog:
The St Louis Rams figured that they did not want anything to do with a coach that coached an offense that could only score 14 points on their 28th ranked defense. Instead, they decided on a coach who coached a defense that shut down one of the most potent offense in NFL History in the New England Patriots. This year Spagnuolo coached a Giants Defense that was ranked fifth overall. He has been the Defensive Coordinator for the Giants for two years; and after his first year, he was given consideration for head coaching jobs, but he instead decided to stay with the Giants, and they rewarded him with a 3 year contract that paid him 3 million per year, which made him the highest paid defensive coordinator in the league. Jason Garrett appears destined to stay with the Cowboys as their offensive coordinator. This year certainly did nothing to improve his resume. The Cowboys finished ranked 13th in total offense, and Garrett received criticism from his own players, including Terrell Owens. Owners and General Managers are probably wanting to see if this past year was either a slump or part of Garrett's maturation as a cooridinator. Garrett's rift with Terrell Owens, although not without precedent, is probably troubling to General Managers, because if a coach loses control of his team, the results are often disastrous.
