The St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers notched the NFL's first tie of the season after playing five periods of grueling football Sunday afternoon in San Francisco.
The Rams, who were heavy underdogs coming into the game, jumped out to an early 14-0 lead after a 36 yard touchdown pass by Sam Bradford to rookie Brian Quick and a seven yard Steven Jackson touchdown scamper. Both scores came in the first quarter.
The 49ers crawled back into the game slowly, first scoring on a seven yard pass by Alex Smith to Michael Crabtree to make the score 14-7 at the half.
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick relieved Smith in the second half. Smith left the game with a concussion and Kaepernick continued the comeback, scoring on a seven yard run of his own.
49ers running back Frank Gore then ran for a 20 yard touchdown to give the 49ers a 21-17 lead.
Bradford then answered the bell and countered with his own scoring a drive. Helped by a successful fake punt, Bradford ended a drive late in ...

St. Louis Rams announced that cornerback Janoris Jenkins and wide receiver Chris Givens are inactive for Sunday's game against the host San Francisco 49ers because they violated team rules. The Rams did not specify what rules the rookies broke. Jenkins, a second round draft pick in the June draft, had started all eight previous games for St. Louis this year. Givens, who...
Danny Amendola's first game in a month for the St. Louis Rams was a huge success. And that's without the 142 yards on a pair of big plays that were nullified by penalty.
A day after repeated mistakes cost the Rams an upset at San Francisco, the wide receiver said he'd try to take the positives out the NFL's first tie game in four years.
Easy to say, hard to swallow...
49ers QB Alex Smith is “doing much better” following the concussion that he suffered against the Rams on Sunday.
“(He’s) doing much better, had a good night’s sleep last night,” coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday, via CSN Bay Area. “And symptoms are positive today. He’s visiting with a neurologist later this afternoon.”
Smith was reportedly dealing blurred vision...
Yesterday, the San Francisco 49ers and the St. Louis Rams game ended in a 24-24 tie, the first since 2008.
While most NFL fans knew the possibility that the game could end in a tie, it appears that 49ers safety Dashon Goldson and Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola weren't aware of that fact:
“I didn’t know you could tie,” Goldson said, per Cam Inman. “When I saw...

Quarterbacks are dropping like flies on Sunday.
First Michael Vick was ruled out of the Cowboys-Eagles game with a concussion, and now the same has happened to 49ers’ signal caller Alex Smith. Smith was scrambling when he took a vicious blow from Rams’ linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar.
The 49ers could struggle without Smith after building their offense around him. Second-year player...
Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis shared all kinds of dirty secrets this week about his old college roommate at Ohio State, 49ers right guard Alex Boone.
Alex Smith and the 49ers struggled through the air, settling for 24-24 tie against St. Louis.
Randy Moss‘ comeback to the NFL via the San Francisco 49ers hasn’t yielded the mind-boggling numbers that Moss put up during his heyday in Minnesota and New England. So far this season, Moss has 13 receptions for 235 yards and two touchdowns for the 6-2 Niners.
But regardless of his play, Moss has never been afraid to speak his mind. On Sunday, Moss took part in an interview...
