ST. LOUIS (AP) The St. Louis Rams have released fullback and special teams captain Brit Miller to make room for center Scott Wells. Wells has been on injured reserve after breaking a bone in his left foot in the opener but was activated Tuesday. Coach Jeff Fisher said Monday he was hopeful Wells would start Sunday at Arizona. The 26-year-old Miller had been with St. Louis since early in the 2010 season and started one game this year. He appeared in nine games and was not active for the first time last week in a loss to the Jets. Fisher said Monday that because of the Jets defense he thought going with three tight ends was advisable and Cory Harkey was elevated from the practice squad to make his debut for St. Louis at that position.

Rams making progress, despite record

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Rams may only win four or five games this year, finish near the bottom of the NFC standings and get another top-10 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Sounds like a bad year, right? Not at all. For a team that won two games last year and just 15 games the previous five seasons, the Rams have shown significant progress under first-year coach Jeff Fisher, whether...

He was on the field for just seven snaps in last week's victory at Arizona...

Rams' turnover slump at 5 games

An errant pass bounced off hands of the New York Jets' Joe McKnight on the sideline, tantalizingly soaring just out of the reach of St. Louis Rams safety Quintin Mikell and an easy touchdown return. In the opening series of last week's loss, Mikell stripped Mark Sanchez, and the ball bounced right back into the quarterback's hands. Those are just two of the latest frustrations...

New York Jets defense finds a way to stop Chris Givens streak
