According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the St. Louis Rams have made it clear they were unaware that running back Steven Jackson is looking for a new contract. So any rumors of the Rams possibly trading Jackson look like they’re false.
Thomas indicated that those who are close to Jackson have said that he doesn’t want a new contract, but would rather like an extension, so he can make sure he retires as a Ram.
There were also rumors that the Rams would release Jackson if they end up drafting Alabama running back Trent Richardson, but that seems unlikely as well, since they don’t need the cap room.
