PLAYERS: Scott Wells
TEAMS: St. Louis Rams
The St. Louis Rams are close to getting center Scott Wells back from a fractured left foot that has sidelined him since the season opener. Wells returned to practice for the first time on Tuesday and while he could be promoted to the 53-man roster in time for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams could choose to give him a little more time, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Rams used their injured reserve designation that allowed Wells to return this season and he has a 21-day window before he must be promoted from IR to the active roster. Wells has missed considerable time as a knee surgery wiped out much of the spring program for him. “I feel all right,” Wells told Thomas. “This is all part of the evaluation. Getting back out there, moving around, increasing the workload day to day, seeing how the body responds.” Considering all the shifting the Rams have been forced to do on the line because of injuries this season, it will be good for them to get Wells back.
