Before Ryan Broyles came along, Taylor Stubblefield was the all-time leader in receptions in the NCAA with 316. The 5-11 wide receiver attended Purdue when Kyle Orton was throwing to him, literally every down. As a Freshman, Stubblefield led the Boilermakers in receptions with 64. He had zero touchdowns,  but at least he moved the chains and was able to make Big 10 All-Freshman team. Purdue also made it to the Sun Bowl in 2001, and the wide out set a new record in receiving yards with 196. As a Sophomore Taylor still didn’t record a touchdown, but he did manage to catch 77 balls. In 2003, Stubblefield had 86 receptions as a Junior, and finally found the end zone three times. And finally as a Senior Taylor Stubblefield completely broke out. He had 89 receptions for 1,095 yards and 16 touchdowns (he was due for some TD’s). Stubblefield earned First Team Big-10, Biletnikoff Award finalist, and an All-American.

Taylor graduated from Purdue, and entered the 2005 NFL Draft.  Unfortunately the reception machine went undrafted. He was later signed by the Carolina Panthers but failed to make the team. Like most crushed NFL dreamers, Stubblefield  signed with the Hamilton Tiger-cats of the Canadian Football League. He later was asked to join the St. Louis Rams training camp, but once again he did not make the team and ended up back with the Tiger-cats.

Stubblefield is currently the 2nd all-time reception leader in the NCAA, the all-time reception leader in the Big 10, and the receivers coach for the heavy passing team Central Michigan.
