Name: Joe Jurevicius
Claim to Fame: He has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated twice and he is the owner of a Superbowl Ring.
Was he any Good? Jurevicius' career was filled with ups and downs. When out on the field and not in the trainer's room injured, he proved to be a more than capable receiver. He was always considered to have some of the best hands in the league. Even though Jurevicius was a key factor in the Buccaneers 2002 Superbowl victory, he had his stand-out year wearing a Seahawks helmet. In 2005, he helped lead Seattle to the Superbowl with 10 touchdowns. He had a great game in the Superbowl against the Stealers, but I’ll spare you the details of that painful game.
Anything Else Interesting About Him? Sadly, his son Michael died in 2003. As a result, Joe dedicated all of his touchdowns to his son and has created a scholarship in his name. He filed a lawsuit against the Browns in 2009 for the staph infection he contracted that essentially ended his career. Jurevicius is also a hunting junkie. He is now a co-owner of a hunting supply store and resort. And saving the best for last, he came to my fifth grade class, and I had the pleasure of holding his Superbowl ring.
