Rashard Mendenhall (knee) is expected to make his season debut this Sunday against the Eagles. His health is far from a guarantee, which is why I am benching him in all leagues this week. That being said, he should be watched carefully this weekend, as his Steelers have plenty of juicy matchups ahead.
After they host the Eagles, they only have three good run defenses left on the schedule. Starting with week 6, they play three defenses in the bottom third of the league over the next month. If he looks healthy this Sunday, try to acquire his services, as this is a player destined to peak as the season progresses.
Worth noting: If your league has its semifinals starting in week 16, Mendenhall could easily be a RB2 for your postseason. Pittsburgh hosts the Bengals and Browns in the games final two weeks.
BEST OF MAXIM
The Steelers running game is tied for last in the league through the first 3 weeks of the season (3 way tie with the Raiders and Titans). Pittsburgh is averaging just 2.6 yds per rush and has a combined pitiful 195 yds total rushing. If that doesn’t make you cringe as a Steeler fan, I don’t know what will.
The offense hasn’t ranked that low in rushing in 62 years; one can only...

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall is expected to return from an ACL injury this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, ESPN.com reported Monday. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been waiting for RB Rashard Mendenhall to return to the lineup since the start of the season. They won’t have to wait much longer as the team expects to start Mendenhall in week five against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Steelers are hoping the infusion of Mendenhall back in the lineup will help to jump start a sagging rushing attack.

Rashard Mendenhall (knee) is still on track to make his 2012 debut against the Eagles in Week 5. Coach Mike Tomlin expects Mendenhall to practice in full this week and suit up Sunday. The Pittsburgh Steelers get back to action following the bye week at home against the 3-1 Philadelphia Eagles. Pittsburgh carries a 1-2 record with embarrassing loses to the Broncos and Raiders and the lone win coming at home over the Jets. Despite the losing record Ben Roethlisberger is having arguably his best start to a season to date. Ben has thrown for 904 yds 8 TD’s and...
Despite their 1-2 start to the season, the Pittsburgh
Steelers could receive a significant boost this weekend on both sides of the
football. Running back Rashard Mendenhall and linebacker James Harrison could
make their season debuts for Pittsburgh, while safety Troy Polamalu could
return from an injury that’s kept him out the past two weeks.
Harrison and Polamalu...

Both Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer have done a solid job of filling in for Mendenhall, but they’re certainly missed him so far this season.
Mike Tomlin had his weekly press conference on Tuesday, and among the hot topics was the status of injured players James Harrison, Troy Polamalu, and Rashard Mendenhall. According to Tomlin each practiced on Monday and the team will see how the players do throughout the week before making a final decision on their playing status.
He was optimistic though about the possibility of...
The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of just two teams who have not quite hit the 2012 NFL first quarter point in the season following their bye week this past Sunday, but everyone in the organization knows that a 1-2 record will not sit well in Steeler Nation. Pittsburgh has certainly not played the most challenging schedule to this point, but they also have not been entirely healthy...
