Ravens HC John Harbaugh provides a crucial Marcus Williams injury update ahead of 49ers clash

The injury woes have continued for Baltimore Ravens safety Marcus Williams.

Williams came away from the Ravens’ road win over the Jacksonville Jaguars with a groin injury. He appeared to have sustained the injury during his in-bounds tackle on Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington in the late stages of the second quarter. The clock continued to run after Williams brought down Washington, and in the end, the Jaguars did not run another play in the first half.

Marcus Williams may have just made one of those tackles we look back on at the end of the season as a season defining play.

Williams did not take the field for Baltimore's next defensive drive, which concluded with Jaguars wide receiver Jamal Agnew scoring a 65-yard receiving touchdown.

The Ravens later ruled Williams as questionable to return due to his groin injury.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said after his team's 23-7 win over the Jaguars that Williams is "going to be kind of day to day probably."

Williams’ second season with the Ravens has been marred by injury. A pec injury suffered in Baltimore’s regular season opener against the Houston Texans forced him to miss three straight games. He made his return to action in Baltimore’s road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it was only a mere one week later that he sustained a nagging hamstring ailment.

If Williams does not go on to receive the green light to play in Baltimore’s upcoming road matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, then Geno Stone is expected to once again be called on to fill in for the seventh-year safety.

Williams has recorded 34 total tackles in eight games played this season.
