Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Lee Evans could end up being released, since he’s owed a $1 million roster bonus in the offseason and #3.27 million base salary for the 2012 season.

It doesn’t make sense to pay that much money to Evans,  who was hurt for the majority of the season and couldn’t secure a reception in the end zone to propel the Ravens to the Super Bowl.

With the emergence of rookie Torrey Smith alongside Anquan Boldin,  keeping Evans around really doesn’t make sense for next season.

I won't belabor this, since the Ravens themselves have decided to move on and let it go...But as John Harbaugh and Ozzie Newsome fly down to Mobile for Senior Bowl scouting duties, and the Ravens players clean out their lockers, here is one last look at the technicality of a play which I think the refs missed and the NFL Review Booth was precluded from taking a procedural jurisdiction...

Lee Evans had victory in his hands. Billy Cundiff had a tie game on his toe. Two chances in the final 30 seconds to keep their Super Bowl hopes alive and the Ravens let both slip away.

Heading To Indy: Pats And Someone Else

((HT: CSNBaltimore))The New England Patriots are heading to the roman numeral classic version 45 in Indianapolis, and a lot of people would say that there are two people directly responsible- The Baltimore Ravens WR Lee Evans and kicker Billy Cundiff.Cundiff missed a 32 yard, game-tying field goal with time running out in Foxborough. If you look at his plant foot, it was aiming left...

Recap: New England vs. Baltimore

First, the win and a Super Bowl berth was knocked out of Lee Evans' hands. Then, Billy Cundiff pulled the Ravens' chance to tie the game wide left.

In The Red Zone - 1/24

Each time I see the replay of Sterling Moore knocking the ball away from Lee Evans I can’t believe that the rookie with only a few games of NFL experience had the presence of mind to make that play.  But thank God he did because when you combine that with just an awful field goal attempt by Baltimore it sent the Patriots to Super Bowl XLVI. I say that whole attempt was bad...

Last-minute failures end Ravens' season (AP)

A drop and a hook ended the Baltimore Ravens' shot at the Super Bowl. Lee Evans was clutching Joe Flacco's pass and a victory in his hands in the right corner of the end zone. But Sterling Moore knocked the ball away with 22 seconds left. Two plays later, Billy Cundiff pushed his potential tying 32-yard field goal attempt to the left with 11 seconds to go, and the New England Patriots...

Patriots Edge Ravens In AFC Championship Thriller

All I can say is, "wow." Joe Flacco did his part. He deserves a lot of credit, despite the Ravens loss to the New England Patriots. Flacco threw the game winning touchdown to Lee Evans who had the ball promptly ripped out of his grasp on a play he'll likely have nightmares about for weeks or months to come. The game looked as if it was set up for an overtime finish...

In Terrific Playoff Games, No Shortage of Goats

We probably won't get another Sunday of conference championship games like this anytime soon. Two games that came down to the final snap in games overstuffed with heroes and goats are a lot to ask on a typical regular season Sunday with a dozen games for our enjoyment. To get them back to back at this point in the season is a gift that football fans should savor for a good long...

Billy Cundiff Misses Kick; Patriots Top Ravens To Go To Super Bowl

Yep, I can't believe he missed it either. Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal in the closing seconds of Sunday’s AFC Championship game to put the New England Patriots back into Super Bowl with a 23-20 victory. In a season rarity, the Patriots defense bailed out Tom Brady and the offense throughout the game and late in the fourth quarter. As Baltimore closed in on a...
