Ravens re-sign two-time Super Bowl champion

The Ravens have lost several key players in free agency including starting guards John Simpson (Jets) and Kevin Zeitler (Lions), defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (Panthers), linebacker Patrick Queen (Steelers) and safety Geno Stone (Bengals).

However, Baltimore was able to re-sign one of its own standouts on Thursday — a move that should help keep its defense stout. The Ravens announced that they've agreed to a two-year deal with linebacker Kyle Van Noy

The former second-round pick by the Lions in the 2014 NFL Draft had arguably the best season of his 10-year NFL career in 2023. Thanks in part to his contributions, the Ravens led the league in points allowed per game (16.5)

Last year, Van Noy posted a career-high nine sacks — which was the third-most on the Ravens behind DT Justin Maduibuike (13) and Clowney (9.5) — as well as two forced fumbles and four passes defensed.

Baltimore is also bringing back Van Noy for a low price. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, he agreed to a two-year deal worth $9 million. There are also incentives of up to a million a year.

The Ravens haven't made a ton of moves this offseason, but the re-signings of Madubuike and Van Noy along with the free-agent addition of RB Derrick Henry should pay big dividends on both sides of the ball.

The 33-year-old Van Noy is certainly on the backend of his career, but he proved to have some gas left in the tank in 2023. Baltimore is hoping that carries over into 2024 as it aspires to be a Super Bowl contender once again after falling short in the AFC Championship last season.
