Ravens reportedly hiring Baylor coach to replace Anthony Weaver as defensive line coach
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens are continuing to fill out their coaching staff.

The Ravens are hiring Baylor defensive line coach Dennis Johnson for the same role, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones.

Johnson replaces Anthony Weaver, who was recently hired to become the Miami Dolphins’ new defensive coordinator. Weaver served as Baltimore’s defensive line coach over the last three seasons, and he closely worked with the likes of Justin Madubuike and Michael Pierce.

Johnson does not have any prior coaching experience in the NFL. He is coming off of a four-year run as a defensive line coach for the Bears. He helped get the best out of multiple defensive linemen while at Baylor, including Siaki Ika. Ika bolstered his draft stock over his final two seasons at Baylor, combining for 3.5 sacks and 8.0 tackles for loss. He went on to be selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of last year’s draft.

Johnson is now set to work under the Zach Orr-led Ravens defense.

The Ravens are still on the lookout for new assistant offensive line and assistant wide receivers coaches. Mike Devlin held Baltimore’s assistant offensive line coach role over the past two years, but he agreed to take the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive line coach job earlier this month. Keith Williams was Baltimore's assistant wide receivers coach in the 2023 season, but he filled the New Orleans Saints’ wide receivers coach position on Tuesday.
