Analysis: One word comes to mind when I think of Edgar Jones, “versatile.” The outside linebacker/defensive end has also played tight end and full back for the Ravens and even recorded two receptions for 33 yards as a tight end in his career.
But Jones has best served the Ravens on special teams where he recorded 19 tackles last season. His tight end work last season came during the Ravens franchise record setting offensive performance against the Detroit Lions where Jones recorded a reception for eight yards in the Ravens 48-3 victory.
2010 Analysis: The depth that Jones provides for the Ravens goes unmatched. I would expect to see his attention focus more on defense this season with the draft picks of Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta. Still, the majority of Edgar Jones’ time of the field this season will be playing special teams, an area that he has proven to be perform reliably.
