Found August 23, 2011 on Ravens Gab:
Mckinnie

In one of the boldest moves of this off-season the Ravens have come to terms with Offensive Tackle Bryant McKinnie.

McKinnie was an Eight-year starter for the Minnesota Vikings and agreed to a two-year contract with Baltimore. The deal, of course is contingent on McKinnie passing his physical which is far from assured. The Vikings released McKinnie on August 2 after reportedly showing up to camp close to 400 pounds.

McKinnie also comes with plenty of baggage. He’s been charged by police three times since 2005 and was kicked out of the Pro Bowl game two years ago for disciplinary reasons.

Ravens fans will no doubt debate this move over the next few days. Are the Ravens that desperate or did Ozzie pull the fast one once again?

My initial take on the situation is that the Ravens, brass and players felt strongly enough about McKinnie’s skills to give him a shot. But he feels like a huge risk and makes you wonder if Baltimore didn’t just sign a higher priced headache then Jared Gaither. If he stays with the team I’ll be interested to see how this all plays out.
