Found October 18, 2013 on This Given Sunday:
Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens visit the Pittsburgh Steelers in a game that means more than the usual clash between the teams. In addition to bragging rights, the winner of the game will keep themselves in the divisional race, and by extension, the playoff race. Now to be clear, the Ravens will maintain touch with the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC North win or lose, but each loss within the AFC North hurts their chances to gain the tiebreaker over the Bengals or the Steelers. While a loss to the Steelers won’t bounce the Ravens from the playoff race, it certainly deals a major blow that could be difficult to overcome as the season wears on. The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a much more vulnerable place simply because their time for action is now. At 1-4, Pittsburgh has plenty of ground to make up in just over a half season to get into the playoffs. Because this is a divisional matchup, it is a must-win game. It’s an opportunity for the Steelers to not only win a game, but to deal...

Baltimore is 3-1 in their last four games against Pittsburgh. They are coming off a Super Bowl victory from last season, and they currently boast the better record. Zone Blocking Scheme Not Working for the Ravens

Traditionally, the Ravens have been amongst the best running teams year in and year out. Great backs such as Priest Holmes and Jamal Lewis have had great success throughout the Ravens short history. Ray Rice has carried that tradition and is arguably the best receiving back in the league. But early in the season, the perennial Pro Bowler along with Bernard Pierce have both averaged...

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers: 2013 Week 7 NFL Pick

Baltimore Ravens (3-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-4) I’ll admit I was pretty surprised when I saw the Steelers were favorites by 2.5 points here against the Ravens, which essentially suggests these two teams are even. However, it just seems like the odds makers think the Steelers are significantly better than their record. They were right about it last week, as the Steelers ended...

Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones, suffering from a concussion, is listed as questionable for the game vs. Baltimore on Sunday. Jones said Friday that his headaches have dissipated, but after a series of NFL-mandated tests, he has not been cleared. Jason Worilds Ready To Step In If Needed

By Matthew Marczi Over the past couple years, the Pittsburgh Steelers were more often than not able to turn to Jason Worilds whenever they needed an injury replacement at outside linebacker, either for James Harrison or LaMarr Woodley. This year, he was supposed to take the next step and become the starter, but after beginning the season with the title, it was just a week later that...

Jarvis Jones Shows Signs Of Life As A Pass Rusher

By Matthew Marczi Yesterday, we highlighted some of the struggles that Pittsburgh Steelers rookie starting outside linebacker Jarvis Jones had while facing the New York Jets, which saw him being fooled on misdirections or missing tackles that led to big games. He looked more like a rookie at moments in this past game than he had in the first four. In the aforementioned article, however...

After A Shaky Start, Kelvin Beachum Played Well Against The Jets

Pittsburgh Steelers second-year offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum made his first career start Sunday against the New York Jets and despite him being flagged three times and almost allowing an early sack/safety. I really thought he represented himself well. Below is a breakdown of his play. Beachum's game actually got off to a good start on the failed screen pass to the right that...

He has been tested...

Some Positives From Heath Miller In New York

By Matthew Marczi Yesterday, we took a look at some of the lowlights exposed in tight end Heath Miller’s game against the New York Jets, during which he struggled to block on screen passes and also relinquished a sack. Yet he also managed a season-high in receiving yards that game, so it clearly could not have been all bad, so now it is time to take a look at some of the positives...

Ravens-Steelers Preview

While the Baltimore Ravens are looking to solve the problems that have contributed to their poor start, the Pittsburgh Steelers hope another win can provide a springboard to their turnaround.
