Ravens fans, you may now exhale, let out a sigh of relief and celebrate. Congratulations to coach John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens on their hard-fought victory. If you’ve swallowed your breath all game long, please resume back to your normal breathing functions. Though I understand the 2nd half of Super Bowl 47 will indefinitely be reminisced as the most exhilarating fifteen minutes of February 3, 2013, the finale isn’t something to pass out over. The 4th quarter started on the San Francisco’s 18-yard-line for the Ravens with a fresh set of downs. Six plays later, after burning two minutes off the clock, the 49ers stood up the birds on their goal line and forced Baltimore to just 3 points from the 1. The 49ers, led by their sophomore sensation Colin Kaepernick, responded by scoring in the ensuing drive on a quarterback scramble from shotgun formation. The 49ers pulled within two points but the two-point conversion attempt fell short — but not really — as Kaepernick’s overthrown pass to Randy Moss was an obvious miscommunication. And how much will they miss those pair of points? The 49ers defense stayed rooted to their philosophy, again preventing the Ravens to score a touchdown from the red zone. After cramming the Ravens on the 20, the 49ers defense left Colin Kaepernick and the offense with 4 minutes and 23 seconds of breathing space to earn their first lead of the game. Kaepernick and Co. took to the field, drove down to the Baltimore 5 and failed to capitalize on three attempts. The right-handed quarterback rolled to his side of comfort and misfired three consecutive shots to Michael Crabtree. His final lob to Crabtree down the rail will be controversial for a while, and the referee, as human being as a human being can be, might’ve missed the obvious holding guilty of cornerback Jimmy Smith. The Ravens tried to run the clock out again but left the exhausted Niners with a glimmer of hope. Instead of taking a delay of game penalty, wise-guy punter Sam Koch pranced around in the end zone and was shoved out of bounds to commit the safety and sacrificed a couple points. 4 seconds wasn’t enough for punt returner Ted Ginn to pull off the miracle for the ages and the Ravens will hoist bragging rights for another year.  Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco will be signing a huge contract soon. Kudos to him. And if I may be quite frank, Super Bowl 47 was a lot easier to watch than to analyze.
