RB Aaron Jones could be Packers' X-factor against 49ers

Anything is possible for the Green Bay Packers as long as running back Aaron Jones is playing like he is right now — and that includes finally beating the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs.

That's Green Bay's next task, but for now, the Packers get to celebrate a massive upset win over the Dallas Cowboys in Jerry Jones' house. Jordan Love was phenomenal with 272 yards and three touchdowns (he boasted a nearly perfect 157.2 passer rating) and the much-maligned Green Bay defense put the clamps on Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb for most of the afternoon.

Head coach Matt LaFleur deserves credit for drawing up an exceptional offensive game plan as well, but don't get it twisted — the Packers upset Dallas, 48-32, in the NFC Wild Card off the strength of Jones' 118 rush yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Jones was once again the heart that drove Green Bay's offense down the field and not once, but three times, he was the dagger that ultimately ended another Cowboys season too soon.

He averaged 5.6 yards per pop, but every time he touched the ball was meaningful for the Packers.

“His ability to put his foot in the ground, be explosive, make people miss. I can’t say enough great things about the guy, the football player, what he means to our team, the leadership he brings," LaFleur said after the game, per Sports Illustrated. "He’s a rare guy. There’s not many like him, and how he encourages his teammates, how he uplifts his teammates.”

Jones is in rare form and most importantly for Green Bay, he's finally healthy. Having played in just 11 games this past season due to injury, there's a case to be made that the limited amount of snaps he's gotten this season could help the Packers in the playoffs.

He was explosive versus Dallas, and against a San Francisco team that only has given up 89.7 rushing yards per game this season, a fresh Jones could be the X-factor that finally puts Green Bay over the 49ers.

LaFleur has not yet beaten the 49ers in the playoffs during his tenure as head coach. San Francisco has won their last four postseason meetings.
