EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Minnesota Vikings running back Caleb King was arrested and charged with third-degree assault on Saturday and is currently in an Anoka County jail. King was charged with third-degree assault resulting in substantial bodily harm, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office website. No bail amount was listed. No other details of the arrest were available. A spokesperson said the team was aware of the situation. Vikings general manager Rick Spielman is speaking to the media later Saturday as part of his post-draft press conference and could offer comment then. King, 24, spent most of last season on Minnesota practice squad after signing with the Vikings after going unselected in the NFL supplemental draft. He was promoted to the 53-man roster in December, but was inactive for the season's final game. Follow Brian Hall on Twitter.

Vikings RB King arrested on suspicion of assault

Authorities say Minnesota Vikings running back Caleb King has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting another man. The Anoka County sheriff's office says King was arrested Saturday. Authorities say King assaulted a 22-year-old man, causing skull and facial fractures and cuts that required more than 50 stitches to close. The man is hospitalized in serious condition. King signed...

Minnesota Vikings sign WR Jerome Simpson

The Vikings priority of this year (since they aren’t going to win a lot of games no matter what) should be to figure...

Favre mentored Packers draftee

Tennessee-Chattanooga quarterback B.J. Coleman, who was drafted by the Packers, got some assistance from Brett Favre in preparing for the draft.

Minnesota Vikings Add CB Josh Robinson To Strengthened Secondary

After passing on Morris Claiborne in favor of Matt Kalil in the first round, one of the first things that was discussed was when the Vikings truly planned on taking a cornerback. Frazier desires flexibility in the secondary

Leslie Frazier couldn’t do what he wanted with the secondary last year because of injuries. The addition of a couple veterans, and what he hopes will be a draft pick, should help him implement changes. So, too, should the addition of Harrison Smith.

Favre Mentors Packers' Coleman

Brett Favre and B.J. Coleman share the same agent, with Bus Cook linking the quarterbacks together. Twice a week for two months, the quarterbacks worked out together. Coleman, the Packers' seventh-round pick, called Favre an "awesome legend."

Vikings' draft nets a 'B' average from experts

Minnesota Vikings new general manager Rick Spielman conducted his first draft having the final say on the team's picks and certainly enjoyed the experience. There was a constant smile on Spielman's face in his post-pick press conferences. Coach Leslie Frazier described him as "giddy" after Minnesota traded with the Cleveland Browns to swap the third and fourth...
