The Washington Redskins have been awarded wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and cut wide receiver Brian Hernandez. Briscoe was a popular target on waivers as he was the subject of competing waiver claims from the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and the Cincinnati Bengals, according to a league source. Briscoe fell out of favor with the Buccaneers after being absent from the offseason program due to personal issues. Briscoe is a former Bengals sixth-round draft pick from Kansas. Briscoe was cut by the Bengals two years ago and then claimed by the Buccaneers.

Redskins look to improve production at safety

On an improved defense last season, the Washington Redskins' safety play was still a weak link. Exit Landry and Atgowe....
