Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis is out for the
remainder of the season with a torn Achilles tendon, reports Gregg Rosenthal of
"I didn't know what it was right away," Davis
said, via The Associated Press. "I have never experienced anything like
that. I was unable to walk and then I knew something really was wrong.
"I was running my route and stuck my leg in and either
got stepped on or it happened naturally."
Davis was the Redskins’ leading receiver entering Sunday’s
matchup with the New York Giants. He’ll be replaced in the lineup with Logan
Paulsen, and the team went out and reached an agreement with Chris Cooley for
Linebacker London Fletcher (hamstring) was also forced to
exit the game due to injury.
Wide receiver Pierre Garcon wasn’t able to suit up for
yesterday’s contest, and more bad news came out regarding the injury
that kept him sidelined. He has a torn tendon in his foot that is expected to
keep him out for two more games.
