The Washington Redskins defense, which has already allowed 63 points (second worst in the NFC) this season, will be without both Adam Carriker and Brian Orakpo for the rest of the year. Carriker reportedly has a torn quad tendon, while Orakpo has a torn left pectoral.

The pair combined for 14.5 sacks last year for Washington, who will now be missing two of their top pass rushers. More pressure will now be thrust onto second year man Ryan Kerrigan, who had 7.5 sacks last year and has accounted for one this season.

It goes without saying that this is pretty awful news for the Redskins. Orakpo and Carriker were both first round picks (Carriker by the Rams, Orakpo by the Redskins) in the last five years, and were huge assets to the defense. It's definitely going to be a challenge to replace them. Washington was gashed for 151 yards in a loss on Sunday to the Rams, who only gave nine carries to banged up starter Stephen Jackson. Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was only sacked twice in the defeat, and was only hit an additional three times. If this is going to be the way it is without Orakpo and Carriker in the lineup, it could be a long year in the nation's capital.
