The Washington Redskins have put cornerback Phillip Buchanon on season-ending injured reserve. Buchanon has been troubled by neck and knee problems and appeared in only two games this season after being suspended for the first four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. This was his second season with Washington and 10th in the league. The Redskins replaced Buchanon by adding cornerback Brandyn Thompson to the 53-man roster Saturday. Thompson was a seventh-round draft pick in April and has played in two games. Washington (3-4) hosts the NFC West-leading San Francisco 49ers (6-1) on Sunday.

DeAngelo Hall on the Redskins offense

If you play for the Redskins defense, you’d have to be a saint not to get a bit frustrated at the other side of the locker room at some point. I mean, using just the crude measure of points-per-game, the defense ranks seventh in the NFL, yielding 19.8 per game. The six teams ahead of them — San Francisco, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Houston, Cincinnati and Detroit — each have at...

redskins quarterbacks are really, really bad

(photo by Brian Murphy) Mike Shanahan has been the head coach of the Washington Redskins for 23 games. During that time, he’s utilized three different quarterbacks — Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman and John Beck. Because I’m apparently a masochist, I went back and crunched the numbers those three gentlemen racked up during their time with the Shanahan clan, [...]

Haslett seeing fresher, more effective defensive line

When he reviewed the play of his defensive line during the 2010 season, Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett came to the conclusion that the unit wasn’t as effective as it should have been. Kevin Durant Washington Redskins Card

What if Kevin Durant played for the Washington Redskins, is apparently the new what if LeBron James played for the Cleveland Browns. After dominating the random flag football game he recently played in as quarterback and defensive back, scoring four touchdowns and picking off three passes. Panini America decided to have some fun with the KD football madness and designed this Durant...

Jack Abramoff, Dan Snyder and the Redskins

Somehow, in a week that saw both Redskins fans and Mickey Rourke embracing Rex Grossman, the weirdest Redskins story of the week did not involve a disgraced former quarterback. No, it involved a disgraced former lobbyist. Yes, that’s right, Jack Abramoff has a Redskins connection, and was a FedEx Field suite holder, which he detailed in his new book.
