After firing the two biggest salvos of the early free-agency period by re-signing CB DeAngelo Hall for $54 million and signing DT Albert Haynesworth to a dizzying, $100-million-plus deal, the Redskins have cut CB Shawn Springs, the Washington Post first reported. The expected move will prevent an $8.5 million cap hit this season. There had been talk about moving Springs to safety, where he moonlighted down the stretch last season, but that move only was possible if he agreed to take a major paycut, which he apparently was not.
