(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) Robert Griffin III is getting a copy of ''Cool Hand Luke.''
Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Friday he's sending his rookie quarterback a DVD of the movie.
Shanahan compared Griffin to the 1960s Paul Newman character after the Thanksgiving win over the Dallas Cowboys. Shanahan said Griffin is the type who ''doesn't get too upset about anything.''
But RG3 had no idea who or what ''Cool Hand Luke'' is, telling reporters it must be someone ''pretty cool.''
So Shanahan says he's texted Griffin to let him know it was a complement that he understood why a 22-year-old quarterback wouldn't know anything about a movie that's 45 years old.
Another new description of Griffin is ''MVP candidate'' after two impressive wins that have revitalized the Redskins' playoff hopes.
