The PD’s Mary Kay Cabot did some more digging on the RG3 trade at the NFL owners meetings in Palm Beach, speaking with Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan, who confirmed that unlike the Browns, who came back with a second offer after the Rams told them their first one wasn’t good enough, the Redskins put their best foot forward the first time around:
“When they say ‘give us your best shot,’ you’ve got to give them your best shot.”
“You have to make a decision on what it’s going to take to get that pick, especially when you’re competing with a few football teams,” he said.
He admitted he was sweating out the Rams’ decision and had no idea what the Browns were offering.
“Yeah, if affects your future,” he said. “Everybody in the organization [was excited]. They understand how important it is to get that guy. They’re hard to find. And it usually gives you a chance to get to the big game.”
Shanahan confirmed there was no give and take on the bidding with the Browns, that
