With injuries impacting the team early in training camp, the Redskins signed veteran offensive tackle Jordan Black to a one-year deal. Coach Mike Shanahan also announced Tuesday that safety Tanard Jackson was activated from the physically unable to perform list. Jackson, sidelined by a calf injury, hopes to return to practice Wednesday. "You are definitely behind when you miss any days of camp and you're not out there practicing with the guys," Jackson said. "But it's a long time in the preseason. We’ve got plenty of opportunities to get out there." To make room for Black on the roster, linebacker Jonathan Goff was released. Black was in training camp with the New Orleans Saints last summer but didn't make the team and was out of football for the entire season.
