Jordan Black is eating his way back into the NFL.
The offensive lineman is making a comeback after spending a year away from the game and losing some weight - because he thought he was retired.
But a rash of injuries had the Washington Redskins calling. He signed a couple of weeks ago, and on Tuesday he found himself playing first-team left tackle, responsible for protecting Robert Griffin III's blind side.
Black played for three teams over six seasons but couldn't find a club in 2011. His weight dropped to 270, so he's now consuming 7,000 calories per day to get big enough to play in the league once again.

The Washington Redskins entered training camp with more depth than ever. This was especially true along the defensive line and should remain that way unless they become injury riddled. Yesterday, they suffered their first blow. Chris Neild is done for the season after tearing his ACL in 11-on-11's yesterday.
The news was disappointing to players and fans that've watch...
Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley has seen rookies come and go in his nine NFL seasons. He's noticed something unique about Robert Griffin III.
Cooley says he's ''never seen doubt in that kid's mind'' - a remarkable assessment about a rookie just wrapping up a first NFL training camp.
Cooley says the only other rookie he's seen who showed...
Can't get enough of Robert Griffin III? Check out all those action figures in his locker.
The Washington Redskins opened their locker room to reporters for the first time Tuesday, revealing an RGIII cubbyhole with six figurines, including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, an extra-muscular version of Captain America and, of course, a Baylor Bear.
Underneath each figurine is...
1. Robert ‘RG3’ Griffin III, QB, Baylor – He has a cool name. He’s got the charisma. He’s got the skills. He is the anointed savior of DC football.
Let’s face it, Redskins fans have been waiting for this guy since men like Mark Rypien, Joe Thiesmann, and Doug Williams played under center. RG3 is going to have a long leash with Washington fans.
Redskins No. 3 receiver, Leonard Hankerson, had to be helped off the field on Tuesday, according to Washington Post's Mike Jones. It was believed to be heat-related.Fantasy Spin:Hankerson, who in 2011 caught 13 balls for 163 yards in four games before an injury ended his season, is expected to be a big part of the Redskins' offense as the guy behind aging Santana Moss and...
Roy Helu missed practice today with what is being called achilles tendonitis. Interesting considering that this development may provide Evan Royster with an opportunity to go further ahead of Helu in the race to earn the lead back job. We've written several times about Royster outperforming Helu in camp and the fact that the Redskins coaches have no faith in Helu's ability...

Redskins running back Roy Helu missed practice on Monday because of Achilles tendinitis.Fantasy Spin:Helu's grasp on the starting job had already been slipping away from him in recent weeks and this injury certainly won't help matters. Don't expect Helu to be Washington's Week 1 starter at halfback.
We are under the one month window before the 2012 NFL season, which has all of our writers here at The Waiver Wire gearing up for another year of debates, poorly made bets and trash-talking. This year, we’ve decided to break down the season-to-be division by division. We will preview all eight divisions and pick our division winners, likely wild cards for both the AFC and NFC...
According to Zac Boyer of Fredericksburg.com, Washington Redskins wide receiver Leonard Hankerson supposedly was carted off the field during Tuesday’s practice with a heat-related illness.

“Hankerson was participating in team drills midway through...
Whether you are a Redskins fan or not, it’s becoming difficult not to like rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III. The 2011 Heisman Trophy winner first raised eyebrows when his obsession for socks went mainstream at the Heisman ceremony and Griffin wore a pair with a Superman cape hanging from them. Apparently Griffin’s obsession for superheroes [...]
According to Rich Tandler of CSNWashington.com, tight end Fred Davis hasn’t been very impressive during training camp so far.
Tandler wrote the following after Monday’s practice:
“Fred Davis dropped a Rex Grossman pass over the middle. It’s time to say that Davis isn’t having a great camp for someone who is supposed to have a breakout season. It’s early still...
