Redskins tight end Fred Davis has been among the team’s inactive players each of the last two weeks, which has apparently caused the 27-year-old to lose some sleep. Not to worry, though, he’s making up for it in team meetings. Davis, who was viewed as a budding star just two seasons ago, was leapfrogged by rookie Jordan Reed in recent weeks, leading to his benching. That move has led to trade speculation as well as an apparent rift between he and coach Mike Shanahan. Although, if his habits in team meetings are any indication, it’s unlikely that will change anytime soon, according to USA Today. “I’ve never slept through a whole meeting, but I’ve nodded off,” Davis said on Wednesday. “I mean, everyone nods off. It’s dark in there. You nod off. You wake up — go get something to drink and go back.” Maybe everyone does fall asleep at some point or another. A late night out or a long day of practice can lead to some sleepy eyes, but it’s probably not in Davis’ best interest to go around yapping about his mid-meeting sleeping habits. As for his future with the Redskins, it appears he’ll be around a while longer as he wasn’t traded before Tuesday’s deadline. Although, he admits that he wishes he had been. “Definitely,” Davis replied when asked about the possibility of being traded. “If I was on another team, you’d see what I can do.” Maybe we’ll finally get to see just that next season, or after he’s done napping.
