The Washington Redskins waived offensive tackle Willie Smith and quarterback Jonathan Crompton amid a series of transactions required to reduce the roster from 75 to 53 from 9 p.m. ET Friday. Crompton was released for the second time this week -- he was re-signed the first time, perhaps a trial balloon to see if he was claimed by another team. Since he was not, the Redskins could plan to bring Crompton back as a member of the practice squad when such transactions are permitted by the NFL beginning Saturday. Smith, 25, started three games as a rookie in 2011 and has played left tackle and right tackle. He started two games in the 2012 preseason -- Aug. 18 at Chicago and Aug. 29 against the Buccaneers. He's likely to draw interest from teams in need of depth, such as Houston and the New York Jets. The Redskins also reportedly parted with running back Tristan Davis, cornerback Travon Bellamy, defensive end Doug Worthington, offensive lineman Grant Garner, defensive lineman De...

Washington Redskins safety Tanard Jackson has been suspended indefinitely without pay by the NFL for violating the league's substances abuse policy.
The league said Friday that Jackson's suspension begins immediately. He will be eligible for reinstatement in exactly one year - beginning Aug. 31, 2013.
This is Jackson's third drug-related suspension, the previous two...
The huge burgundy flag with the word ''REDSKINS'' in gold letters towers over the front of the team's facility, dwarfing in both size and height the four U.S. flags that help frame the parking lot. The arrangement makes quite an impression, especially when viewed from the practice fields, and serves to help symbolize something that's been true for a long time...
Tanard Jackson suspended indefinitely
Tanard Johnson, free safety for the Washington Redskins, has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating its substance abuse policy.
Johnson will be re-evaluated in 2013 for possible re-reinstatement.
Yup, he will miss this entire season. This won’t be the first time he missed playing time, though. He had to sit...
The Redskins released running back Tim Hightower Friday.Fantasy Spin:Hightower was listed No. 1 on the depth chart at the start of training camp but he never was able to get healthy coming off surgery to repair a torn ACL last season. This eliminates one of the four players fighting for carries with Washington, but the role of lead back in Week 1 is still up in the air.
A team led by Rex Grossman and John Beck hardly warrants excitement. It doesn’t matter how good your defence is, your running game is, or any facet of your team is, if the guy that leads your team doesn’t inspire confidence, a team and its fanbase will decline.
Fortunately for Redskins’ fans, excitement is just what the Redskins had in mind for 2012. Enter RG3. The second...
Trade Update: The Washington Redskins trade wide receiver Anthony Armstrong to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for running back Steve Slaton.
The Redskins also release running back Tim Hightower today, which might have something to do with them brining in Slaton.
Former NFLer, movie and film star Terry Crews, most notably 'Julius' on Everybody Hates Chris, has a new video out for Old Spice, featuring his muscles, some drums and a pretty clever idea:
On Friday as NFL teams were clamoring to make their final roster decisions in order to reach the league imposed 53-man minimum, the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins were reportedly in discussions regarding a trade. Several South Florida news outlets were reporting that the Redskins were interested in Dolphins RB Steve Slaton and Miami was interested in Washington WR Anthony...

“Tough loss for the Redskins, safety Tanard Jackson has been informed he’s been suspended indefinitely with a review in a year for violation of NFL Drug Policy. He’s still trying to appeal,” Glazer reported...
