As Jerry Reese surveyed the damage from the Giants’ 0-6 start — a disaster he never saw coming — he stubbornly tried to look at the bright side. And there was always a bright side, even before two straight wins gave his team a soft landing on the way into the bye. What he saw, as the losses piled up, was a team that wouldn’t fracture, a team that refused to quit and a team that kept believing as the bandwagon emptied. The players hung together long enough to sniff the fringe of the race in their awful division when they easily could have surrendered. And the credit for that, he said, goes to his oft-embattled coach. “Well, this is not Tom’s first rodeo. He's been around for a while,” Reese said Tuesday. “The passion that he brings to the table, all of our players can see that. That’s never wavered with him. For him to keep this team together, I think that shows how much respect the players have for him and what he’s done for the organization.” It also shows that Tom Coughlin...

Jerry Reese Believes that Giants Can Make Playoffs

One of the more common questions that Giants fans have asked is where Jerry Reese has been since the season began. Reese has made some good moves in bringing back Brandon Jacobs and signing Peyton Hillis on the fly but he's also been noticeably outside of the public eye since the Giants got off to a horrendous start to the season. Yet, when Reese did speak with reporters...

Coughlin’s suggestion for those who think he’s too old to coach

Tom Coughlin has a suggestion to those who might wonder if, at 67, he might be getting too old to continue as head coach of the Giants, who are 2-6 at midseason: Why don’t you see if you can keep up with me? “You know, if you pin me down on it and I really knew that [questions about his age] was taking place, I probably would say, ‘Come on out here and get with me at five...

Tom Coughlin Takes on Those Who Say He's Too Old to Coach

The whispers always seem to start whenever Big Blue is struggling. They have been particularly loud this year, as GM Jerry Reese has had to give the dreaded vote of confidence half way through the season. The criticism is usually the same. Maybe Coach Tom Coughlin is too old. Maybe the game has passed him by. Maybe the daily grind and intense preparation escapes him now...

Giants' GM Reese doesn't rule out trading Nicks

The Giants are going to keep “all of our options open” with the trade deadline fast approaching, according to GM Jerry Reese. And that includes the unlikely possibility of trading Hakeem Nicks. The only way deal will get done is if a team makes an offering the Giants can’t refuse.  This probably won’t happen...

Tom Coughlin has a positive outlook

It is not secret that Coach Coughlin can be a tremendous hard ass. One thing Coughlin is not, is easily defeated. And right now, after the horrendous start, he not discouraged. The coach went on WFAN with Mike Francesa yesterday morning to discuss the rest of the season and where the head coach thinks the G-Men stand. The entire interview is definitely worth a...

NFC East still wide open after Week 8

Despite the obvious overall lack of quality within this year’s edition of the NFC East, the NFL’s weakest division has once again provided some of the most intriguing storylines from Week 8, not surprising considering that halfway through the season there remains no clear-cut leader. After an extremely concerning 0-6 start to the regular season, the New York Giants (2-6) won...
