Detroit Lions special teams coordinator John Bonamego says running back Reggie Bush will have a role as a returner.
“Reggie will have a role,” Bonamego told detroitlions.com. “Reggie (can return punts) and is willing to do it. That’s more situational — we need one, let’s put him back there and let’s see if he can make something happen.
“I had him his first two years in the league in New Orleans and that was the way he was utilized in that role. So, he’s back there catching them in practice.”
It’s not smart to have Bush return every punt due to him possibly injuring himself, but if the Lions need a big play at a crucial moment during a game, having him return a punt won’t hurt.

No more Mr. August.
This is the year defensive end Willie Young has to produce for the Detroit Lions when it counts.
A year ago, Young was anointed by many as the breakout player to watch following a standout preseason. He took advantage of teammate Cliff Avril's absence early in training camp and carried that momentum into the exhibition games when he was all over the field...
Speak the word cornerback to any Detroit Lions fan and they will roll their eyes and shake their head before offering some derisive description of the position as it applies to their team. That is because the cornerback position has been problematic at best for longer than many fans can remember. But the Lions may be on the verge of correcting the situation with a group of youthful...
Hawaii basketball coach Gib Arnold had his house burglarized earlier this week, as thieves stole both cash and sports memorabilia from his home in Kailua, the Associated Press is reporting. Items stolen include IPads, computers and a signed Reggie Bush jersey from his playing days at USC.
Arnold was an assistant coach with the Trojans earlier in his career, and the...
The Detroit Lions have signed 2012 undrafted free agent TE Matt Veldman who was just released by the Jaguars a week prior. Veldman, who attended North Dakota State, didn’t play in 2012 due to a torn ACL. He has recently been able to resume practice and has excellent size at 6-7, 255 lbs. It’s a long shot for Matt that he makes the final roster but his size has likely intrigued...
We here at WCSN have spent a great deal of time recently poking fun of Matthew Stafford for this chart, which shows that the Lions have gone 1-23 against teams with a winning record with Stafford as their quarterback. WCSN Lions beat writer Russ Thomas then responded with a well-intentioned (but perhaps over the top) [...]The post Matthew Stafford is not a bad quarterback against...
Jim Schwartz is entering a critical season in Detroit. A good season is likely needed to keep his job as the Lions' head coach. And since...
Buffalo Bills wide receiver is doing all he can to get into good shape, and avoid the injury bug that has plagued him over the past two seasons.
One player Johnson likes when he sees him, is Detroit Lions all pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Johnson rarely misses games while dealing with a ton of punishment on a regular basis.

With Reggie Bush now in Detroit the Miami Dolphins will have fairly big shoes to fill at running back. In his two seasons as a Dolphin, Bush averaged better than 1,000 yards rushing per season and provided big play capability both on the ground and through the air.
Tasked with the...
