Found October 26, 2011 on My Sports Rumors:

If you believe Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid things are back to normal between him and cornerback Asante Samuel. Me, I’m not quite sure if I’m buying that.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said he and cornerback Asante Samuel talked after Samuel’s recent comments on the 975. The Fanatic and that they are moving on.

Reid said he and Samuel agreed to have no further comment. Earlier this week, Samuel told reporters that Reid had put a gag order on him.

Reid tried to dimiss trade talk involving Samuel before the deadline, reiterating that everybody calls everybody (Eagletarian)

Here are Samuel’s comments on the Fanatic.

“Definitely, it doesn’t sit well with me,” Samuel said. “Definitely, I’ve been nothing but what they expected me to be when they brought me there. . . . Definitely, it doesn’t sit well with me. And obviously they don’t want me there, so life goes on. So we’ll see where I’ll be at.”

I have no doubt in my mind that is how Asante really feels and it’s how he still feels even after his talk with the big guy.

These rumors first surfaced after the Eagles acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Nnadmi Asomugha. The rumors were justified as all played the same position and what team needs three elite corners?

Of course it all faded as training camp went on and it was time to focus on football. Those rumors resurfaced at the deadline, with Howard Eskin saying as many as five teams contacted the Eagles. Reid said everyone calls everyone about everyone and you know what I believe that. I wouldn’t be surprised if Andy called a couple of those teams saying hey what would you give me for Asante.

All I can take out of today’s Eagletarian post is that it’s water under the bridge, for now. Meaning, Samuel will shut his mouth and do what he’s paid to do and that’s play football. Asante knows that if the Eagles want to recover their season and make the playoffs they don’t need these distractions.

“Well, as long as I’m getting paid I’m gonna do my job,” Samuel said. “So whoever [is] cutting the check, I do my job. . . . So I’m not worried about that. I just know in the back of my head they don’t want me there. So, you know, that’s not gonna leave. They put it out there so everybody could know that, so I know that and everybody knows that. So it’s in the back of my head. And Asante Samuel is a business entity first, so I’m going to make sure I handle my business accordingly.”

Now this off season, well that’s a different story. Expect the issue to come up again and Asante to be a little more outspoken about his feelings.

Eagles aim to stay perfect post-bye under Reid

Whatever the Philadelphia Eagles do when coach Andy Reid gives them a week off works perfectly. Under Reid, the Eagles are 12-0 following a bye. They're looking to extend that winning streak when they host the Dallas Cowboys (3-3) on Sunday night. It's another must-win for the Eagles (2-4), who can't afford to lose any more after a poor start. Given Reid's success...

Philadelphia Eagles DB Asante Samuel Still Mad At Team Owners

Philadelphia Eagles DB Asante Samuel is still mad. Mad that he was on the trading block and mad at the Eagles owners for their “fantasy football” approach to filling out NFL rosters. Samuel’s followed up his radio interview from last Saturday with more soundbites. “Andy and I talked and cleared it up,” said Samuel at his locker Wednesday. “Everything has been good with...

Eagles C Samuel rips management before backtracking

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel, apparently still annoyed by trade speculation surrounding him since the offseason, took some shots at the team's front office Wednesday. "Couple people upstairs might not want me, but who cares? They've probably never played football," Samuel said Wednesday. "It's a business, and they run it like a business...

Asante Rips Front Office

WOW things are getting crazier in Philadelphia. This morning I talked about Asante Samuel and Andy Reid making ammends, where Reid said he the two of them talked and have nothing else to say. Well, Asante does but not about his coach. Comcast SportsNet Philly has a big article today with lots of quotes where Samuel sounds off on the organization as a whole. Here’s a few...

Asante Samuel: Eagles Front Office is Playing Fantasy Football

Asante Samuel is one of those players that never seems happy.  No matter how much money you throw at him or how many games his team wins, there’s always a problem.  With the Patriots, Samuel could not see eye-to-eye with upper management once it became obvious they would not be offering him a long-term deal.   [...]

Samuel Addresses Team On 2nd Day Of Operation Clean Up

It was clean up day for the Eagles again today as we learned from DeSean Jackson that Asante Samuel addressed about his emotional and public criticism of the team’s front office after practice yesterday. Of course Andy Reid had dealt with it yesterday by talking to Samuel and releasing a public statement. Eagles defensive [...]

CB Samuel rips Eagles management (AP)

Unhappy he was trade bait, Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel criticized management and compared the team's front-office to people who play fantasy football. "Couple people upstairs might not want me, but who cares. They've probably never played football," Samuel said Wednesday. Eagles' Samuel: 'Emotions' led to exec remarks

Unhappy he was trade bait, Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel criticized management and compared the team's front-office to people who play fantasy football.

Another reason "fantasy football sucks"--- according to Asante Samuel...

Didn't see that one coming... Asante ripped GM Howie Roseman and team president Joe Banner for playing "fantasy football" with the Eagles --- and all this after Asante told us yesterday he was going to accept his gag order from coach Reid with grace...Maybe this is a tempest in a teapot... or maybe it's a timely controversy to fire up the team to new awareness...

Out Of The Chute: Cowboys at Eagles

Every week during the season, we’ll scout out the Cowboys next opponent. This week, that opponent is the Philadelphia Eagles. The Opponent: The Philadelphia Eagles, aka the Dream Team, aka Would Have Been A Dream Team If Andy Reid Weren't In Charge Record: 2-4. But a DANGEROUS 2-4. Like a wounded lion! The Line: Eagles by 3.5. Last Game: A 20-13 win against...
