San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis likely will play in Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals despite sustaining a concussion last weekend, CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reported. Davis will spend much of this week going through the NFL's concussion protocol before it's determined whether he can play against the Arizona Cardinals in San Francisco's regular-season finale. The San Francisco receiving corps could use Davis, as the team will be without Mario Manningham and Kyle Williams. Manningham sustained tore the anterior cruciate ligament and posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the Sunday night loss to the Seahawks in Seattle, and he's out until next season. Williams underwent season-ending surgery Dec. 5 to repair a torn ACL in his left knee. Davis has become a non-factor in the San Francisco offense in recent weeks. He recorded just one catch in each of the past three games, and he has just five receptions for 56 yards over...

49ers Injury Report: Vernon Davis ‘Should Be Available’

While the San Francisco 49ers recently lost wide receiver Mario Manningham for the remainder of the season, injured tight end Vernon Davis should be available for the team’s regular season finale against the Arizona Cardinals, reports Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. Davis should be available for the 49ers’ regular-season finale against the Cardinals after sustaining a mild concussion...

Little hope for Harbaugh’s Niners without Smith

Sometimes you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone and without Justin Smith the San Francisco 49ers defense immediately becomes average. Since Smith left the game in the second half against the New England Patriots, the 49ers defense has given up 76 points. Let me repeat that – 76 points! That is just pathetic. If Smith doesn’t return for the playoffs the defense...

Vernon Davis knocked out with a concussion

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis took a hard hit from Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor during tonight’s game that forced his head to whip back.  He ended up suffering a concussion and is out for the remainder of the game. Vernon DAvis has a concussion and is out for the game. — Matt Maiocco (@MaioccoCSN) December 24, 2012 It wasn’t a helmet to helmet hit, but the...

Vernon Davis Not Practicing Wednesday

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, who suffered a concussion in the game against Seattle, is not practicing Wednesday.Fantasy Spin:Forty-Niners coach Jim Harbaugh called it minor and is optimistic that he will play on Sunday, but these days any concussion requires testing. Davis hasn't done much over the past four games catching a total of five passes for 56 yards and no scores.

49ers' Davis leaves game with concussion

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis left Sunday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks with a concussion and was not expected to return. Davis was injured when he took a big hit from Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor while attempting to make a catch in the first quarter. Chancellor was penalized for unnecessary roughness, though replays showed the hit was clean. ...

Randy Moss now No. 2 on 49ers depth chart at WR

Randy Moss figured to play a smaller role in San Francisco then he had in his previous NFL stops. No longer. Moss has moved up to the No. 2 spot on the 49ers depth chart. The reason of Moss’ promotion is injuries to Kyle Williams and Mario Manningham. Manningham tore his ACL and PCL, leaving him out for the season. Behind Moss on the depth chart will be rookie A.J. Green and Ted...

Kam Chancellor Levels Vernon Davis to Break Up Pass, But Penalized for Unnecessary Roughness (Animation)

A few years ago, this hit by Kam Chancellor would have been played over and over on NFL films compilations and praised, but now, it’s dirty. Chancellor broke on a ball floating toward Vernon Davis and leveled him, jarring the ball loose and knocking the 49ers tight end out of bounds. The play by Chancellor saved the reception and a possible touchdown, but it was also flagged for...

With Manningham out, 49ers need others to step up

Mario Manningham limped through the locker room on crutches, holding a towel around his waist while trying to keep his head high and sport a smile. That's not an easy thing to do for the San Francisco 49ers right now. Manningham is out of the season with left knee injury after he getting tackled low by Leroy Hill and fumbling in the third quarter of San Francisco's 42-13...

Jenkins could get opportunity this week

A.J. Jenkins' time is now. Following Sunday's season-ending knee injury to Mario Manningham, the 49ers' first-round pick finally figures to be a part of a game plan. He's been active three times this season, but has yet to catch a pass, while sitting behind the team's veteran stable of receivers. Jenkins has quietly gone about his business, trying to soak...

NFL Week 17 Injury Report: Randy Moss Replaces Mario Manningham in Lineup

On Christmas Eve, San Francisco 49ers fans learned that WR Mario Manningham would be lost for the remainder of the year after suffering a knee injury. Manningham suffered a torn ACL and PCL in the Niners loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The injury now leaves the Niners dangerously thin at the wide receiver position. San Francisco will now roll Randy Moss into the No. 2 receiver...

Mario Manningham Done For Season

San Francisco receiver Mario Manningham's season came to an end in Week 16 after suffering an ACL injury.Fantasy Spin:Manningham wasn't a reliable every-week performer with Alex Smith or Colin Kaepernick under center. The 49ers will use a combination of Randy Moss and rookie A.J. Jenkins across from their No. 1 option Michael Crabtree.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seahawks Week 16 game balls & stats

We’re In! This team just continues to impress me. Now sitting at #2 all time in a three game scoring spree at 150 points! I said it before, but who in the hell stole my Seahawks and replaced them with real football players? Arizona, and Buffalo are one thing, but San Francisco was the unanimous “best team” in the league last week, and we just destroyed them tonight. Defense...

Beat-up Niners regrouping into season finale

Jim Harbaugh kept his sentences short and information at a minimum Monday, repeating a phrase he will rely on following the worst loss of his NFL coaching career: regroup, refit and reorganize. That's all the 49ers can do at this point.

Rams vs 49ers Fans

The game between the San Francisco 49ers and the St Louis Rams may have happened nearly two months ago, but the fan who recorded this video decided to wait until Christmas to pass this along.  Thank you random fight loving fan for this lil nugget.  Watch as we get not one, but two sucker punches [...]

Jim Harbaugh denies honking at the Seahawks team bus

The Seattle Seahawks claim that 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh honked his car horn at their team bus when the 49ers defeated the Seahawks back in October. “Yeah, he (honked at us),” Seattle safety Earl Thomas said, per Yahoo! Sports. “It seems like he tries to be a professional in front of the camera, but he does his antics, like that, when the cameras aren’t around. He...
