According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco 49ers don’t plan on using the franchise tag on safety Dashon Goldson for a second straight offseason.  The 49ers do not plan to use the franchise tag, according to two league sources, which means Goldson, a Pro Bowl and All-Pro safety, will get to test his worth on the open market. You’ll recall that “Good Cop” Jim Harbaugh said that Goldson “deserved” a long-term contract. At the combine, “Bad Cop” Trent Baalke said, “You can’t pay everybody, and you certainly can’t pay everybody if you’re overpaying others.” The 28 year-old Goldson recorded 69 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 3 interceptions in 2012.  As good as he’s been over the past couple of years, it doesn’t look like the 49ers can afford to re-sign or tag Goldson. Vis-a-Vis Wallace: It's also worth noting that the type of receiver he is doesn't tend to have a long shelf life. He's not a big physical freak like a Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson. He's undersized and speedy, does most of his damage between the 20s etc. H

Anthony Davis calls Terrell Suggs a ‘loser’ on Twitter

Per NFL.com: Suggs was asked on KNBR-AM in San Francisco...

Alex Smith, the unlucky 49er

So, the inevitable is likely all but official now. Alex Smith will have to trade in his Giants cap for a Royals cap after the 49ers agreed to send their one-time-starter-turned-Kaepernick-jock-holder to the Chiefs, as first reported by Jay Glazer. A suggested strategy for the San Francisco 49ers

By sending backup quarterback Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs and gaining a 2013 second-round draft pick as compensation, the San Francisco 49ers will now have five picks in the first three rounds of the 2013 NFL Draft and 15 overall.
