The Kansas Chiefs hold all the leverage in the upcoming 2013 NFL Draft.  They have a capable quarterback on the roster, so what they choose to do with the #1 overall pick is not of the utmost urgency. The Chiefs can draft Luke Joeckel, Shariff Floyd, Geno Smith or trade the pick to one of several teams who need a quarterback. Andy Reid is as shrewd as they come and he’s playing the game right now.  We reported last week that Andy Reid made it clear that Geno Smith was definitely an option for the Chiefs with the #1 pick. Reid could really like Smith, or he could be trying to get teams such as the Jaguars, Jets, Raiders, and Eagles to take the bait and offer picks for that #1 spot. Birds 24/7 via Ian Rapoport is reporting that Reid has ratcheted up his gamesmanship another notch, by reportedly comparing Geno Smith to a younger version of Donovan McNabb. Word from #Chiefs scouts: They’re fascinated by Geno Smith, comparing him to a young McNabb. They love how he throws. Need to study ...

  • Andy Reid will run true to form and draft a quarterback to stamp his brand on, just like he did in Philly. The comparison to Donovan McNabb should be your first clue.
  • Then there must be a Super Bowl Puke in his future. A Super Bowl loss but a Puke none the less.
  • If he is so good why did Reid NOT pick him in the draft ??
  • Ding ding ding ding!!!! HELLOOOOO, the draft hasn't happened yet, what the hell are you talking about?

A Challenger Appears: Kyle Rudolph's Ice Auger Celebration Has Potential

I think we're all in agreement that Minnesota Vikings tight end, Kyle Rudolph, has been disgustingly underused, correct? Despite having nine touchdown receptions during the season last year, it's clear that he could be a much larger component of the passing game, especially after watching him earn MVP honors in the 2013 Pro Bowl. Instead, with the Vikings, he's been stuck...

DE Victor Butler visits Eagles, leaves without a deal

The Philadelphia Eagles and free agent defensive end Victor Butler reportedly have a mutual interest in each other, and a deal still could get done, just not on Tuesday apparently. Butler and the Eagles met, and he also took a physical, but left town after that. He's already visited with the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers and others, so we can expect...

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings retained some of their linebacker depth on Tuesday. Multiple reports say Minnesota re-signed linebacker Marvin Mitchell, who played in 11 games last season, starting one for an injured Erin Henderson. Report: Redskins Reach An Agreement With DE Darryl Tapp

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Redskins have reached an agreement with DE Darryl Tapp on a one-year deal. Tapp, 28, was limited to playing just 257 snaps for the Eagles last season, but despite the limited role, he’s been a fairly productive player for them, according to Pro Football Focus’ ratings. He’ll be asked to move to outside linebacker next season, but he...

Former Texans LB Connor Barwin’s classy thank you to Houston after he signed with Eagles

Connor Barwin signed a six-year, $36 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago after spending his first first four years in the NFL with the Houston Texans.  While the $36 million helped cushion the blow, it appears that it was pretty tough for Barwin to leave Houston.  The former Cincinnati Bearcat and University of Detroit Jesuit High School graduate put a full...

Eagles sign a good punter---but he can't tackle...

The good news is we won't be spending a late draft pick on a punter.... The bad news is we've got another punter who can't tackle... Donnie Jones, who played for the Houston Texans last season, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Eagles. "Donnie Jones is a guy that we have admired over the last several years,” said Eagles general manager Howie Roseman...

Report: Patriots To Sign WR Michael Jenkins

Jason La Canfora is reporting that the New England Patriots will sign free agent WR Michael Jenkins. Jenkins, 30, was released Vikings a few weeks before the start of free agency. He’s drawn very little interest since then, but the Patriots seem to always be keeping tabs on available receivers during this time of the year. Last year, he totaled 40 receptions for 449 yards and...
