SEATTLE - Wide receiver Braylon Edwards is set to sign a one-year deal with the Seahawks, a league source told KJR 950's Dave Softy Mahler. Edwards wasn't signed after a workout just before Seattle opened training camp last week, and then headed to South Florida for a tryout with the Dolphins. It appeared the Seahawks' interest had passed when they signed another veteran, Antonio Bryant. But Seattle is aggressively seeking a replacement for injury-plagued Mike Williams, who was released earlier this month, and Bryant and Edwards are both coming off injuries. Edwards is only 29, but was bothered by a knee injury and eventually released by the 49ers in the middle of last season. He caught just 15 passes in nine games with San Francisco. Bryant hasn't played since 2009 due to knee issues of his own. The Seahawks are looking for a consistent threat to start opposite Sidney Rice. Free agent wide receiver Braylon Edwards received a tryout with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The workout showed Edwards is healthy, the Miami Herald reported, and indicated the team has serious interest in him. Edwards had an injury-marred 2011 season with the 49ers, who landed him late in free agency on a one-year, incentive-laden contract. He started five games before suffering...
On Christmas Eve 2011, Braylon Edwards and his 49ers teammates went into Seattle and held off the Seahawks, improving their record to 12-3, and enhancing their odds at getting a first round playoff bye.
Three days after the game, in which he had one catch for nine yards in the second quarter, Edwards was cut by the 49ers.
It was a meek end to an equally meek run for one of...

Four months ago we reported that the New York Jets had expressed interest in bringing him back.
He worked out for the AFC East rival Miami Dolphins last week, but wasn’t immediately signed.
Some loose reports suggested the Dolphins were still legitimately interested.
Regardless of whether Miami was...

Life is good. Players are hard at work on the practice fields, live Seahawks football will return to our televisions in a matter of days, the weather is perfect for barbecuing meat to perfection over hot coals1, and the training camp news from the VMAC is both encouraging and abundant. Maybe even too abundant – with reports coming in daily from the Seattle Times, the Tacoma...
Last week Braylon Edwards worked out with the Seahawks during the same workout as Antonio Bryant. It looks like that Seahawks liked what they saw enough to sign him to a contract. i
My man Dave Softy Mahler of Sportsradio 950 AM in Seattle tweeted it first.
Adam Schefter from ESPN has confirmed the deal.
Last year for the 49ers he caught 15 passes but was subsequently released...
