The Kansas City Chiefs have claimed quarterback Kyle Orton off waivers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday. The Chiefs (4-6) lost starter Matt Cassel to a fractured right hand and went with Tyler Palko during Monday's lopsided loss to the New England Patriots. Kansas City, which has lost three in a row, sits two full games behind the Oakland Raiders (6-4) in the AFC West. Orton struggled this season, passing for 979 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions as the Denver Broncos went 1-4 with him under center. The 29-year-old Orton was placed on waivers by the Broncos on Tuesday afternoon after the team deemed him expendable following the emergence of former college standout Tim Tebow.
