Maurice Clarett's football career may be over, but the former Ohio State star still might have a shot at some glory -- as a rugby player.
Clarett will be playing with the Columbus, Ohio affiliate of Tiger Rugby on Saturday at The Ohio Rugby Sevens Invitational in Mechanicsburg, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Tiger Rugby is the developmental program that will be used to help select members of the first-ever U.S. national team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Clarett, who rushed for 1,237 yards in his only season at Ohio State in 2002, is just 29 and looks like he's in good shape.
But he played his last meaningful football for the UFL's Omaha Knighthawks in 2010, and even then, was just a shell of his former self, rushing for 154 yards on 37 attempts that season.

Mark May, ESPN college football analyst and professional Ohio State troll, is back at it again hating on the Buckeyes. Today, May let his Twitter followers know why he didn’t put OSU in his preseason top 10.
He posted the below on Facebook, which auto-feeds into his Twitter account. (It’s surprising that he actually figured out how to do that.)
Here we have two completely different...
There’s some good news for Buckeyes fans today, as Ohio State is getting a big linebacker recruit in the Class of 2014. Ohio State has been all over Dante Booker Jr., who is Ohio home-grown talent from Akron. Today he announced on Twitter that he’d be heading to Columbus for college:

Continuing with the Buckeye Empire Summer Series, we take a look at the Cornerback (CB) position this week. This position is becoming one of the premier defensive positions in football, since football is becoming a game of who can throw the most passes. This position is becoming more and more important; teams need a corner to match up with the size, speed and athleticism of receivers...
Recruiting high school players has to be tough on college coaches. As if sifting through the millions of high school athletes to find the diamonds wasn't challenging enough, but competing with every other program for a teenage kid's attention has to be tough.
So when you meet with a recruit like Raekwon McMillan, the top linebacker in the country, you have to pull out...
Griffin will be in the mix in the 2013 secondary.
Let me start out by simply stating the obvious: Adam Griffin is the son of the greatest living Ohio State football player, Archie Griffin. That being said, Adam is an excellent athlete in his own right. You have to be a great athlete to get a scholarship to play in Columbus Ohio.
Adam is a 5’8, 183 cornerback who played his high...
A 4 Star recruit out of Catholic Memorial (West Roxbury, MA), Sophomore Cornerback Armani Reeves was a late 2012 commitment to the Buckeyes after decommitting from Penn State following the Sandusky scandal. Reeves joined best friend and high school teammate Camren Williams as commits from what is not normally an Ohio State pipeline out of Massachusetts. The scandal, as well as Urban...
BREAKING NEWS------ Ohio State has added a commitment from four-star linebacker Dante Booker. The player confirmed his decision via text message to FOXSportsNEXT. There will be more from Booker later on.
Jaason Lewis is one of the top 2015 prospects in the country. On Thursday night, Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes playmaker picked up a scholarship offer No. 11 from Ohio State
Ohio State is going very slowly in their pursuit of a quarterback for their 2014 recruiting class. Georgia native Stephen Collier will camp at Ohio State, looking to earn an offer.
Ohio State picked up the ninth commitment for their 2014 recruiting class, and it was another impact player. Four-star linebacker Dante Booker is a huge commitment to a position group in need of talent and depth.
Ohio State has started to look at the 2015 class, and several out of state prospects hold offers. Christian Kirk is an exciting receiver prospect out of Arizona.
Nebraska will turn to sophomore left-hander Aaron Bummer on Thursday against Ohio State in the Big Ten tournament. The
