Patriots Already Phasing Out Wes Welker In New England?

If their dominating week 1 victory against the Tennessee Titans was any indication on Sunday, it appears as if the New England Patriots may already be working on phasing out wide receiver Wes Welker as the team prepares to see what life may look without No. 83 next season. We all know teh background when it comes to Welker and the Patriots. The receiver is unhappy with his contract...

Patriots Third Down Defense: 5/14 = 35% (solid) Patriots Red Zone Defense: 0 TDs allowed in 2 attempts = very solid Hard not to be impressed with the speed and physicality we saw, especially out of the rookie defenders. Maybe it’s a bit early but initially it looks like the Pats D has turned a corner.

Logan Mankins' Decision to Play on Torn ACL Shows Determination Patriots Need to Return to Super Bowl

Logan Mankins has been a pillar of the Patriots' offensive line for seven seasons, but in 2011 the All-Pro right guard proved his commitment to the franchise more than ever. During the Patriots' Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins last year, Mankins tore his anterior cruciate ligament. Mankins not only finished the eventual 38-24 win but also accomplished the rare and almost...

Wes Welker's Lighter Workload a Situation to Monitor Moving Forward

Fantasy owners and Patriots fans alike were thinking the same thing on Sunday, where is Wes Welker? The Patriots All-Pro receiver played in just 63% of the team’s snaps on offense and caught three passes for fourteen yards, which raises questions, especially due to his tumultuous offseason. Welker was in his familiar position in the slot to start the game, but was off the field...

Broncos 31, Steelers 19: Game Balls

Broncos 31, Steelers 19 — you know what a victory means, fellas. Give out your BT Game Balls! Peyton Manning For a guy, after 600+ days since he last took a meaningful snap, to come out against one of the league’s most respected defenses and play flawlessly is amazing. Tim Tebow who? And I loved Tebow, but I had forgotten what a truly great quarterback can do for a team. What...

Peyton Manning: The Colts' Trash Turns Into Broncos' Treasure

We all wondered, so did Broncos President John Elway, head coach John Fox and his dad, Archie Manning. Is it gone? Did he lose the magic? For thirteen years, Peyton Manning spoiled us. As quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, he helped create a dynasty. In those thirteen years, the Colts made the playoffs eleven times. They won their division eight times , made it to the AFC championship...

Manning makes stellar Denver debut in win over Steelers

DENVER -- Peyton Manning returned from a yearlong absence looking as if he had never been away. Manning led four scoring drives, completing a go-ahead touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, and the Denver Broncos pulled away to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-19 Sunday night. "It definitely is a special win," Manning said. "I know how hard I've worked and how...

Titans see gap in 34-13 loss to Patriots

Mistakes, blown chances, and a long day for quarterback Jake Locker in his first career start for the Tennessee Titans. Not a winning formula, especially when the New England Patriots are the opponent. Locker threw for 229 yards and a touchdown, but had two turnovers and was sacked twice as the Patriots beat the Titans 34-13 on Sunday. The Titans also missed tackles and couldn...

Week 1 Risers and Fallers: Pats shut down CJ2K

Will the real CJ2K please stand up?  I don't know who was wearing No. 28 for the Titans on Sunday, but the Patriots managed to put a deathly end to Chris Johnson's proclamation that he'll lead the league in rushing this season.  In New England's 31-13 trouncing of Tennessee, we saw early investments from the 2012 draft class, particularly with Chandler Jones...

Von Miller Tebows after sacking Ben Roethlisberger (Video)

Just when you thought that Tebowing had finally reached its conclusion, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller decided to bring it back. Watch as Von brings down Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and pays the ultimate tribute to his former teammate by dropping down to one knee:

Thomas off to a fast start with Manning in Denver

(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.) By ARNIE STAPLETON AP Pro Football Writer Demaryius Thomas sure has a knack for dashing into history. Eight months after scoring the longest overtime touchdown in NFL playoff annals, the Denver Broncos' big receiver burned the Pittsburgh Steelers again by hauling in Peyton Manning's 400th touchdown toss. In January, it was an 80-yard grab...

Denver Broncos release center C.J. Davis in order to sign Caleb Hanie and Dan Koppen

The Broncos announced in an official press release on Tuesday the signings of Caleb Hanie and Dan Koppen. In the process of signing both veterans, the Broncos were forced to clear up two roster spots, and they did so by placing DT Ty Warren on injured reserve for the second straight season while releasing backup center C.J. Davis. Hanie was released a day before the season opener...
