Danny Amendola‘s history of full health (or lack thereof) has been widely documented since the wide receiver signed with the Patriots on Wednesday. And don’t worry, the Patriots were well aware of his lengthy time spent off the field due to injury. That’s why a good chunk of the contract handed out to Amendola depends on the former Ram’s health, according to Howard Balzer of the Sports Xchange. Amendola’s base contract is for five years and $28.5 million. He also gets a per-game roster bonus of $31,250 for every game he stays healthy. That would amount to $500,000 per season and $2.5 million total. Amendola has played just 12 games in the last two seasons. The wide out’s contract includes a $6 million signing bonus, plus $4 million in guaranteed money, which includes his entire $2 million 2013 salary and $2 million of his $3 million 2014 salary. His base salaries are $4 million, $5 million and $6 million for 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively. Since Amendola’s deal only guaranteed $10...

Report: Pats Signed Danny Amendola on Tuesday

According to reports from Mike Reiss of ESPN and Tom Curran of CSNNE.com, the Patriots actually signed St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola on Tuesday, one day before Wes Welker signed with the Broncos and before the Pats announced the agreement with Amendola. The Patriots and Amendola agreed to a five year, $31 million deal with $10 guaranteed, supposedly on Wednesday. However...

Ok, this is weird. Danny Amendola actually signed on Tuesday?

So, we all assumed that the Patriots saw that Wes Welker was being offered two years, $12 million by the Broncos and refused to match that low offer. Apparently, that wasn't the case. They didn't care because they had already signed Danny Amendola, this didn't happen yesterday when we heard about it. It happened two days ago? Interesting news: Amendola signed with...

Danny Amendola Reportedly Signed With Patriots on Tuesday, a Day Before Wes Welker Signed With Broncos

So, Danny Amendola wasn’t a reaction to Wes Welker‘s exit, after all. According to Tom E. Curran, the Patriots and the former Rams receiver agreed to the five-year deal on Tuesday — not Wednesday when the signing was leaked. That being said, Curran believes that the Pats had likely already moved on from Welker and went after Amendola when No. 83 went on the market. Check...

Vote: Will Wes Welker or Danny Amendola Get More Receiving Yards in 2013?

Fair or not, the production of Wes Welker and Danny Amendola will be compared throughout the 2013 season. On Wednesday, Welker signed with the Broncos after six seasons with the Patriots — five of those seasons ending with more than 100 receptions. Welker will attempt to recreate the success he had in New England with Peyton Manning while the Patriots will look to Amendola, who...

Bill Belichick Is ‘Excited’ About Danny Amendola’s Addition to Patriots

Excitement isn’t the reaction most Patriots fans had at hearing about the signing of Danny Amendola instead of Wes Welker. But apparently that’s Bill Belichick‘s state of mind. The Patriots announced Amendola’s signing on Thursday afternoon, including a statement from the head coach, which is an unusual practice for Belichick, to accompany the news. “We are excited about...

Danny Amendola’s Experience With Josh McDaniels Was ‘Main Thing’ Behind Signing With Patriots

The Patriots gave Danny Amendola $31 million reasons to sign with them this week, but it turns out the main attraction was already in New England. No, it wasn’t his parents, who own a home in Scituate. Instead, he admitted his experience with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels during his time with the Rams was the biggest pull. “Well, that was the main thing,” Amendola...

Amendola Has Potential; His Pre-Patriots Accomplishments Dwarf Welker's

It seems like Wes Welker was always Patriot, especially to younger fans, but the fact of the matter is he only played 6 seasons for the Patriots. Fans seem to have forgotten about Welker's arrival to Beantown, but Bill Barnwell of Grantland has not, as evidenced by this article. He makes many interesting points in this article, but two really stand out in helping to ease the...

2013 NFL Free Agency: Replacing Harvin, Boldin, Wallace, and Amendola in the 2013 NFL Draft

In what is one of the most exciting and aggressive off-seasons in recent years, the receiver position has been the most intriguing to follow. Wes Welker departed from New England for Denver, the Vikings and Ravens traded away their best receivers away, and the Rams and Steelers lost their feature weapons to more aggressive teams. But, for the Vikings, Ravens, Steelers, and...
