Following a report from The Athletic that University of Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee was among the finalists for the head coach position at Georgia State, a new report states that the job will officially be McGee's in the coming days.

Georgia reporter Graham Coffey of DawgsCentral.com and theplayerslounge.io published a report on Wednesday night that McGee and Georgia State were finalizing a deal to make him the fourth head coach in GSU football history.

McGee is an Auburn grad who spent three seasons as a player with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals

After his playing career, McGee enjoyed a successful decade as a high school coach in the state of Georgia. That included seven seasons as the head coach of Carver-Columbus High School, where he won several state championships. Carver was also previously an assistant at Georgia Southern for two seasons under current Houston head coach Willie Fritz. McGee also was Georgia Southern's interim head coach following Fritz's departure and won the 2015 GoDaddy Bowl.

The Columbus, Georgia native was a part of two national championship staffs with the Bulldogs.
