Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Hester is one of the greatest return men in the history of the NFL.  Sadly Hester’s only success as a pro has been returning kicks in some form. Hester who talked of retirement after Lovie Smith was fired has backed off of that somewhat, but one thing is clear as Hester was speaking with the Chicago Tribune, Hester would like some type of change to take place. “I’m going to try to get two or three more years in,” Hester told the Tribune on Saturday. “I think I have that much left in me. “At the same time, I think I do need a fresh start.” Hester who is entering his eight season as a pro, is frustrated by his diminished role on the Bears and wants something to change. “Not only this year, but the last couple of years it has been like that,” said Hester, who added receiver to his resume in 2007. “It was really starting to show, why I was frustrated. “I’m not making any excuses. I know some of the plays I should have made in terms of catching the ball. But I just wasn’t feeling it. My mind wasn’t there the majority of the time.” When asked if he would seek a trade, Hester didn’t shy away from that option. “It’s a possibility,” he said. “I’m loyal to my team. But the fans and my teammates have to understand where I’m coming from. “I don’t want to walk away from this game with another season going the way it ended this year. … It might have to take a fresh start somewhere else.” “To be honest with you, if I’m still here, I don’t want to play offense,” he said. “I don’t think my role (on offense) will fit. I can’t truly say that with the new offense, but from past experience, I don’t think it will fit.” I think Hester’s best bet would be a return to defensive back.  Hester is comfortable in man to man, and as a nickel back would get just that opportunity.
