PLAYERS: Jeff Ireland
TEAMS: Miami Dolphins
See what a good start can do for you. Before July, Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland was embattled, scrutinized, and on the hot seat.  After the Fins 3-0 start, Ireland is now lauded for his work, and according to, blessed with a contract extension. The Miami Herald is reporting that Ireland got the extension during the off-season. Ireland’s contract originally was up after this season, but now, he’s secure through the end of the 2014 season.  So he essentially gets another year to mess it up. Ireland is more known for insulting people, than he is for building a team.

Dolphins sign DT Marvin Austin

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Miami Dolphins have signed DT Marvin Austin. Austin was one of several free agent defensive linemen to work out for the Dolphins last week. Austin, a second-round pick of the Giants in the 2011 draft and he then missed the entire 2011 season with a torn pectoral muscle. He played in eight games for the Giants last season.

Dolphins give GM Jeff Ireland one-year contract extension

When Dolphins Jeff Ireland went on a spending spree in the offseason to secure high-profile free agents like receiver Mike Wallace and cornerback Brent Grimes it was thought (by me at least) that he was making one last-ditch effort to save his job. Now that the team is 3-0 and playing well you could tell Ireland that for now at least his summer was a job well done. Or you could...

Cameron Wake Sustains Knee Injury

Dolphins DE/LB Cameron Wake suffered a knee injury in Sunday's game and is questionable to return.Fantasy Spin:Miami's rush defense was the third-best in the NFL last year and Wake was a huge reason why. Wake led the Dolphins in sacks last season with 8.5. It could be one reason Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan had all day to throw and his Falcons didn't punt in the first...

Ryan Tannehill set for big fantasy day against Falcons (and other fringe starters worth a look)

Ryan Tannehill – QB – Miami Dolphins (vs. Atlanta Falcons) I really think this game will be high scoring. I don’t have to tell you to start Matty Ice but Ryan Tannehill should have quite the game himself. The Falcons are banged up on defense as Left End Kroy Biermann tore his Achilles last week, Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon is out and Cornerback Asante Samuel is banged up....

Defensive reserves step up with Dolphins starters ailing

DAVIE, Fla. -- Two Pro Bowlers were out. So was a guy who just got a big contract extension and one who had two interceptions in the season opener. No problem. There was still plenty of D on the Dolphins. Despite being without two key players for the entire game and two for the second half, Miami still defeated Atlanta 27-23 on Sunday at Sun Life Stadium. The Falcons, who had 377...

The Miami Dolphins Are Here to Stay

Ryan Tannehill led the Miami Dolphins on a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter, propelling the Dolphins to 3-0, and showing the rest of the NFL that they are, in fact, a team to be reckoned with. Tannehill threw for 236 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in Miami's 27-23 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. His second touchdown was a crucial throw to rookie...

Dolphins DE Cameron Wake Likely To Miss 2-3 Weeks?

Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Dolphins DE Cameron Wake is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with “a mild” MCL sprain. Kelly adds that Wake’s injury won’t require surgery, which is obviously great news for him moving forward. Derrick Shelby filled in for Wake after he was forced to leave Sunday’s game, so odds are he’ll be asked to replace Wake...

Mike Wallace Good To Go vs. Falcons

Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace (groin) will play Sunday against the Falcons, according to Jeff Darlington of Spin:A Dolphins source says that Wallace is "fine." After a quiet Week 1 against Joe Haden and the Browns, a frustrated Wallace complained about his role and ended up seeing 11 passes thrown his way in Week 2 against the Colts. He had nine catches...

Miami Invades New Orleans: Three Bold Predictions for the Game

The Dolphins still have something to prove this coming week against the Saints on Monday night.A suspect offensive line when it comes to run blocking, a big hole on the defensive line with the injury to Cameron Wake and the task of covering the speedy receivers of the Saints offense, plus a tight end that is out of this world makes it a huge game for Miami, who has jumped out of...
